As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Dr. McIntire is a distinguished professional who has worked in several diverse technical fields, focusing in the last 18 years as a quantitative analyst on Wall Street with specialties in transaction cost modeling and risk analysis. This lead him to create customized execution strategies for large institutional clients as well as assorted hedge funds.
As the US head of BECS (Best Execution Consulting Service) at Citi Bank's Institutional Clients Group, Dr. McIntire lead a team of quantitative professionals providing analytic pre-trade tools for the Program Trading Desk at Citi and 2,000 external clients -- many of which were companies managing 401Ks for millions of people. Such tools are instrumental in minimizing the trading cost for large executions. His leadership and problem-solving skills since joining Citi were most notably demonstrated when he successfully navigated a complex trade with specific customer requirements that had eluded other firms on the Street, showcasing his ability to devise strategies under challenging circumstances.
Dr. McIntire later worked at Bank Of America's Capital Markets group in the US Algo team where he owned one of the only Portfolio Algo's on the "Sell Side" of Wall Street.
In addition, he created several customized trading applications for the SWAP and Portfolio Desks as well as custom analytics for the Prime Brokerage Desk.
Becoming highly educated, Dr. McIntire received a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, with honors, from the University of British Columbia in 1980. He then attended Brown University, where he garnered a Master of Science in Applied Mathematics in 1981 and a Doctor of Philosophy in Applied Mathematics in 1985. Through his thesis work he created a new technique to determine when models of highly nonlinear wave motion in thermo-elastic solids develop shock waves.
His thesis advisor, Constantine Dafermos, later won the most prestigious award in Applied Mathematics, the Norbert Wiener prize.
Currently, Dr. McIntire is working on the "Buy Side" of Wall Street, helping hedge fund managers improve the efficiency of their trading using customized algorithms.
Dr. McIntire attributes his success to maintaining a laser-like focus on his work, which has been a driving force behind his accomplishments and current status as an expert in execution strategies. Looking ahead, he plans to shift his focus toward mathematical education, aiming to contribute to the field by sharing his knowledge and experience with future generations.
