In this role, Ms. Herman addresses global poverty by collaborating with large philanthropic actors such as the Gates Foundation and the Rockefeller Foundation, companies committed to social change, such as Merck, Visa, AB InBev, LEGO and financial institutions such as the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund and the African Development Bank. Adding to her credentials, last year Ms. Herman also began serving as the Global Director of communications for her firm, where she influences global narratives around these important topics.
Ms. Herman's tenure at Dalberg Advisors follows her role as Vice President of Strategy and Advocacy at EssilorLuxottica, based in Singapore where she oversaw global corporate giving, advocacy partnerships and business strategy to serve the 2.5 billion people in the world who can't access eyeglasses. Previously, she was part of the founding team and a Managing Director at FSG between 2002 and 2018. Ms. Herman's early career included a position as a Senior Consultant at Deloitte Consulting from 1996 to 2000.
In preparation for her future, Ms. Herman received a Bachelor of Business Administration in International Business from the Stephen M. Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan in 1995. Subsequently, she received a Master of Arts in International Policy Studies and a Master of Business Administration in public and nonprofit management from Stanford University in 2002.
In addition to her degrees, Ms. Herman had the opportunity to serve as an exchange student in Bilbao, Spain in the late 1980s and as an intern in Prague in 1991. Ms. Herman was a solo backpacker throughout her 20s, exploring over 30 countries before she started business school. These experiences fueled her desire to focus on global development issues and eventually support corporations in their commercial and social goals in emerging markets. Ms. Herman attributes her success to supportive environments, including her entrepreneurial parents, who instilled in her an appreciation for hard work and dedication to issues that matter.
Throughout her career, Ms. Herman has been actively involved in various industry-related organizations. She has been involved with the U.S. Pharmacopeial Convention since 2015, where she is part of the nominating, strategy and finance committees. She has also been serving on the board of the Global Health Council since 2023. She was on the board of directors for VillageReach for 9 years and has been an advisor to Eniware, LLC since 2012.
In addition to her professional accomplishments, Ms. Herman has contributed to thought leadership through several publications, such as co-authoring "Funding Equity in Health Workforce Development" for the Stanford Social Innovation Review in 2022 and "Shaping Global Partnerships for a Post-2015 World" in 2014.
