OXNARD, CA, December 12, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Tim John Tenopir has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Mr. Tenopir has dedicated his career to materials and corrosion related engineering disciplines, including research, conducting and leading U.S. Navy failure analysis investigations, designing combat and weapons system equipment, writing several guidance documents covering a wide array of ship classes and systems, and establishing personnel and facility certification and training programs. These documents and training/certification programs span several areas, including material condition assessment, repair, quality assurance inspection, design guidance, and overhaul of combat/weapons systems. As a senior scientist at the Naval Surface Warfare Center since 1979, he has been instrumental in expanding the Command material laboratory from a simple office space into multiple buildings and facilities. Mr. Tenopir's work involves ship-related tasks and laboratory research and testing. His training duties encompass a wide range of DoD and contractor personnel, such as ships force, new and senior engineers, management, and technical warrant holders on various materials and corrosion related areas, use of laboratory equipment, data analysis, and equipment design. He is frequently sought out by other departments and foreign Navies for his materials and corrosion expertise in combat and weapons systems.

Having begun his career at Rockwell International, Mr. Tenopir worked on the space shuttle program during high school, where he was responsible for analyzing and ensuring that the chemical process tanks used to treat parts and structures for shuttle construction were operating properly. His duties included developing corrective actions and directing technicians to maintain proper tank chemistries. This early exposure to science and engineering set the foundation for his future endeavors. Over the past 45 years, he has developed educational programs for engineers and created a comprehensive certification program for the U.S. Navy to address challenges in combat systems and equipment standardization.

Mr. Tenopir's educational background includes an Associate of Science in metallurgical engineering from Don Bosco Technical Institute in 1975, an advanced degree in mechanical engineering from California State University Long Beach in 1979 and a Master of Science in applied mechanics from California State University Northridge in 1985. These academic achievements have equipped Mr. Tenopir with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills that have been pivotal in his career.

In addition to his professional achievements, Mr. Tenopir is an active member of several industry-related organizations, including the Society for Manufacturing Engineers, the Society for Protecting Coating Specialist, the National Association of Colleges and Employers, and The American Society of Mechanical Engineers. His involvement in these organizations reflects his commitment to advancing his field and sharing knowledge with peers.

Beyond his professional life, Mr. Tenopir is deeply involved in civic activities. He serves as club treasurer for Lions Clubs International Oxnard Noontimers Lions Club, is active in his church as an usher and serves in various leadership and directing positions for the YMCA of Greater Whittier Camp Arbolado since 1975. His dedication to community service extends to organizations such as the Knights of Columbus, Food for the Hungry, and Sisters of Mercy. Mr. Tenopir also remains engaged with youth programs through the Boy Scouts of America and youth outreach for the Ventura County Amateur Radio club.

Mr. Tenopir's career efforts have been recognized at the highest levels, including honors in Washington, D.C., for his contributions. His knowledge in coding special combat systems has earned him recognition as the Best Scientist by the Pentagon multiple times.

Eager for the future, Mr. Tenopir to transform his ideas into reference materials that will benefit others and is considering consulting. He also plans to continue his volunteer efforts with ham radio and other skills developed through extracurricular activities.
