FORT LAUDERDALE, FL, December 17, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Scot Greenlee has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Mr. Greenlee has enjoyed a distinguished career in the nuclear energy sector, marked by significant leadership roles and contributions to the industry. He most recently served as the Senior Vice President of Engineering and Technical Services at Constellation Energy Group (CEG), formerly Exelon Corporation, from 2013 to 2022. He retired from the nuclear industry in 2022.
Before his promotion to Senior Vice President, Mr. Greenlee excelled as the Vice President of Engineering in the Nuclear Division at Exelon Corporation from 2011 to 2013. He also held positions as a Corporate Engineering Director between 2010 and 2011 and was the Byron Site Engineering Director from 2008 to 2010. Mr. Greenlee's journey with Exelon began in 2007 when he joined as a Corporate Engineering Director and was tasked with addressing challenges faced by one of Exelon's critical assets. His successful resolution of these issues set the stage for his future accomplishments within the company.
During his tenure, Mr. Greenlee played a pivotal role in transforming Exelon/CEG into a leading nuclear operator in the U.S. and the world - a distinction achieved through high reliability of its nuclear facilities. During this transformation, Mr. Greenlee maintained significant industry presence through the World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO), the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations, the Electric Power Research Institute and all of the nuclear plant owner groups. His leadership in the industry was significant and helped elevate all U.S. nuclear operations. Of particular note was his focus on the use of probabilistic risk assessment as a primary tool for nuclear operators to improve plant reliability. Mr. Greenlee's industry leadership was recognized by WANO with their Nuclear Excellence Award in Moscow during the annual 2013 Nuclear Excellence Ceremony.
Before joining Exelon, Mr. Greenlee was the Turkey Point Plant Engineering Director at Florida Power & Light Company from 2005 to 2007. He was also the Design Engineering Director and Engineering/Licensing Director at the Donald C. Cook Nuclear Station with American Electric Power between 1999 and 2003. Earlier in his career, Mr. Greenlee was the Design Engineering Manager at the Crystal River Unit 3 Nuclear Generating Plant with Florida Power & Light Company from 1997 to 1999 and the Operations Department Staff Superintendent at the Salem Nuclear Generating Station with the Public Service Electric & Gas Company between 1995 and 1997. His civilian nuclear career began as an inspector with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission in 1991.
In addition to his remarkable tenure in the commercial nuclear field, Mr. Greenlee also excelled in the Nuclear Navy. He was the top officer student in his Navy nuclear training classes in 1984 and 1985 before joining the USS Houston (SSN-713) in 1985. His positions on the submarine included: Sonar Officer, Main Propulsion Assistant, Quality Assurance Officer and Communications Officer. He subsequently qualified as an Engineer Officer and was assigned to a Naval Nuclear Prototype Facility from which he retired from the Navy in 1991 as the facility Operations Officer (the top military operational position at the site). He received many distinguished honors for his active-duty service.
Mr. Greenlee's work outside of nuclear plant operations included: (1) Starting and operating a new and very successful vending machine services company from 2003 to 2005. The company was subsequently sold to other operators when Mr. Greenlee was encouraged to return to the commercial nuclear industry. (2) Supporting NATO as the Operations Officer for a Naval Reserve Unit responsible for control of any submarines assigned to NATO (1991 to 1995). The NATO work involved staffing a NATO Operations Center in England while submarines were assigned from any country.
Mr. Greenlee's educational background includes a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1983; he graduated with Highest Honors.
Mr. Greenlee was asked to reflect on his significant success as a leader in the world nuclear industry for over a decade. His reflection and advice to others was twofold. First, when it comes to work, love what you do or find something else. Second, leader success is all about "role fit." Leadership is all about finding the right talent with the right fit for each role. An organization founded and built on this model will excel. The Gallup Organization book "First Break All Rules" was his go to guidance for leadership from 1999, when it was published, until the day he retired. Gallup did a nice job of proposing to break traditional leadership rules based on a lot of well-backed data. The Gallup methods worked well for him. He recommends this book for every leader as the best way to get focused on organizational excellence.
