A seasoned executive in the water and wastewater industry with extensive experience in planning, design and implementation of utility facilities, Mr. Beaudet served as president of the eponymous Bevin A. Beaudet P.E., LLC, between 2014 and his retirement in 2024. Previously, he honed his expertise in wastewater treatment and disposal, water supply and treatment, and utility management as the Director of the Palm Beach County Water Utilities Department and as Deputy Administrator for Palm Beach County Florida. Over the years, Mr. Beaudet also leveraged his considerable leadership experience as a regional business group manager for CH2M Hill.
During the early stages of his career, Mr. Beaudet gained valuable expertise from the national consulting firms Environmental Science and Engineering and James M. Montgomery Consulting Engineers. Dedicated to his country, he served as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers between 1969 and 1975.
An expert in his field, Mr. Beaudet holds a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Subsequently, he expanded his professional knowledge by completing a Master of Science in environmental engineering from the University of Florida and an executive certificate in public management from Florida Atlantic University. Driven to stay abreast of changes in the field, Mr. Beaudet aligns himself with several industry organizations, including the American Water Works Association, the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Water Environment Federation, as well as with their respective affiliated state sections.
In addition to his professional endeavors and affiliations, Mr. Beaudet contributed to his community as a member of the Board of Directors for the Water Research Foundation, Water for People and Eco World Water Company. Likewise, he was a member of the Florida Public Service Commission Nominating Council from 2010 until 2012 and the South Florida Water Management District Water Resources Advisory Committee from 2007 until 2011.
Given his outstanding achievements, Mr. Beaudet has been honored many times, earning two Donald R. Boyd Awards from the Association of Metropolitan Water Agencies for service to the drinking water community. Additionally, he received a Distinguished Career Achievement Award from the Palm Beach Chapter of the Florida Engineering Society, the National Environmental Achievement Public Service Award from the National Association of Clean Water Agencies, the Palm Beach County Administrator's Golden Palm Award and the Fuller Award and Honorary Membership from the American Water Works Association. While his career has been filled with highlights, he takes the most pride in collaborating closely with the Board of County Commissioners to address critical infrastructure needs as the Palm Beach County Water Utilities Director, including a major environmental justice program which brought the poverty stricken Western Everglades portion of the County clean water and wastewater service.
Mr. Beaudet's success is not only a result of his hard work and dedication, but also his commitment to mentoring. He intends to dedicate more time and resources to this, focusing on developing future leaders in the field. His observation that some of his most successful mentees are women has deepened his commitment to advocating for gender diversity within the engineering industry, inspiring others to follow his lead.
