He began his vocational journey by pursuing a higher education, earning a BS in finance at the University of Illinois and an MA in real estate and urban development at the University of Georgia Terry College of Business. Afterward, he became an assistant vice president of Coldwell Banker Real Estate Appraisal Services Inc. Later, he founded Realty Consultants, USA, Inc., operating as the company's president and chief executive officer and merging it into Integra Realty Resources Inc., a company he helped launch nationally. He then served as the managing director of Integra's Chicago office for 14 years.
