Courtney is a Certified Financial Planner™ practitioner with nearly two decades of experience in personal finance. He has made significant contributions to the field in various ways, including providing private banking services for high-net-worth investors, launching fintech innovations for retail traders, and delivering tools and resources to financial advisors to better serve their clients.
He is the founder of LX Parker Wealth Management, an independent financial firm offering investment management and financial planning services to busy professionals and pre-retirees who aspire to retire early and pursue their passions. His firm provides a full suite of wealth management services, including financial planning, investment management, retirement planning, tax strategies, risk management, estate planning strategies, and trust services.
Before founding LX Parker Wealth Management, Courtney was a Private Banker at Silicon Valley Bank, where he assisted technology founders and venture capital investors with their personal banking, lending, and investment needs. In 2022, he was recognized by Business Insider as one of The Top Seven Millennial Private Bankers in America. That same year, he was a featured speaker at Afrotech, the largest Black technology conference in the world, where he discussed investing alongside Grammy Award-winning rapper-turned-venture-capital-investor Chamillionaire.
Prior to his tenure at Silicon Valley Bank, Courtney served as a Technical Product Manager for Apex Fintech Solutions, the technology company behind the rise of retail stock trading and the custody engine for notable firms like Ally, Betterment, M1, SoFi, Wealthfront, and Webull. His work on one of Apex's flagship products enabled millions of retail investors to access free online stock trading. Courtney takes great pride in helping democratize the financial services industry and making investing more accessible to millions of Americans.
Earlier in his career, Courtney was a Vice President at Dimensional Fund Advisors, an $800 billion Austin-based asset manager. Selected for their Emerging Leaders program, he was mentored by the company's Co-CEO. He played a pivotal role in their digital transformation and the launch of their secure client site, mydimensional.com, which equips over 50,000 financial advisors nationwide with content, investment research, and financial tools to better serve their clients, design investment portfolios, and manage their practices.
During the Great Recession, Courtney joined USAA, where he served military members and government employees providing guidance on their investment, insurance, and banking needs. Starting as an Investment Services Representative in San Antonio, he quickly advanced to Wealth Manager in Dallas, serving high-net-worth clients in person and becoming the top performer in the market. He took great pride in serving those who serve our country and has carried USAA's core values of honesty, integrity, loyalty, and service with him throughout his career.
Before joining USAA, Courtney worked as an Assistant Vice President at Bank of America in its Global Wealth and Investment Management Division. There, he advised mass-affluent clients on investments, deposits, and lending needs. Excelling in his role, he consistently ranked in the top 5% of advisors in his division and was selected for the Top Performers Panel, collaborating with leadership to develop and implement strategies for department-wide improvements.
Courtney holds an MBA from the Red McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin, where he was the inaugural Texas Venture Labs Scholar, a Consortium Fellow, and the Dean's Leadership Award Recipient. During his MBA program, he founded The Grillmobile, a company that manufactured BBQ grills to mount in the bed of pickup trucks for tailgating and camping. He was featured on The Food Network's spinoff of Shark Tank, Food Fortunes, and received a deal from the investors.
He earned his undergraduate degree from Lehigh University. As a student-athlete, he was a member of the 2004 Patriot League Championship Football Team, received the Student-Athlete Scholar Award, and achieved Dean's List honors. While at Lehigh, he was awarded an entrepreneurship scholarship after launching an on-campus DJing service and radio show, becoming ranked as one of the top college DJs in America by College Bound Teen Magazine. He pursued a double major in Marketing and Finance along with a double minor in Entrepreneurship and Music Business, graduating cum laude with a bachelor's degree in business administration at the age of 20. To celebrate Lehigh's historic upset of Duke in the 2012 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament, he recorded and released a commemorative and comedic song, Lehigh Beat Duke, which went viral on YouTube and is still played on campus over a decade later.
Outside of his financial career, Courtney owns a ranch in East Texas, where he raises grass-fed beef without the use of herbicides, hormones, or antibiotics. He also plays piano as part of his local church band every Sunday. Spending Saturdays at the ranch and Sundays in the church band allows him to recharge, give back to his community, and bring fresh perspectives and creative solutions to his clients.
Courtney's ability to excel across a variety of companies, roles, and endeavors stems from his belief that true success comes from fulfilling one's life mission. His personal mission is simple: to use his knowledge, talent, and experiences to improve the lives of others. Although he has achieved much in his career, his proudest accomplishment is being a husband to his wife, whom he met when he was 12 years old, and a father to their three boys.
