WOBURN, MA, December 23, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Sagitta Woodman, MSW, LICSW, has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Ms. Woodman is a distinguished clinical social worker and psychotherapist with extensive experience in clinical leadership, currently presiding as owner of Inspired Consciousness LLC. With a focus on trauma-informed care for refugee populations, she has dedicated her career to bridging the gap in mental health services for newly arrived individuals. She works with clients in need of long-term behavioral health services, coordinating intake, health insurance, and referrals, while overseeing administrative operations and hiring staff. She also provides psychotherapy, consultation and training on trauma-informed practices to government, nonprofit agencies and behavioral health providers through private grants.

Throughout her career, Woodman has worked with numerous local agencies, including the Edward Kennedy Community Health Center, Community Caring Clinic, and Dorcas International Institute of Rhode Island, where she provided clinical supervision, crisis intervention, and behavioral health services. During her career, she was instrumental in establishing a refugee mental health clinic within primary care settings, collaborating with health centers to provide essential support for the refugee community. Her work with newly arrived populations has earned her recognition as a thought leader in the field, and she frequently presents at national conferences, including the NASW Conference, USCRI Annual Refugee Conference, and the Northeastern University Global Health Initiative Conference.

From July 2019 to July 2021, as Program Manager for METTA BHS at Lowell Community Health Center, Sagitta played a pivotal role in managing and expanding services for newly arriving refugees. Under her leadership, the program provided critical behavioral health support, integrating medical providers, community agencies, and staff to deliver holistic care. Notably, Sagitta's efforts in managing a United Nations grant for torture survivors were instrumental in providing essential rehabilitation services for those who have endured severe human rights violations.

Ms. Woodman's academic journey began with a Bachelor of Science in Social Work from Salve Regina University in 2012, where she received the Social Work Department and Leadership Award for being top of her class. She furthered her education by earning a Master of Social Work in leadership and clinical Social Work with an international focus from Fordham University's Graduate School of Social Services in 2014, where she received the St. Peter Claver Award. Her career began with internships at the International YMCA and the United Nations International Council of Social Welfare from 2013 to 2014. Furthermore, she is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP).

Ms. Woodman's interest in social work began as a child when she witnessed what other children her age faced while traveling in Southeast Asia. Throughout educational career, she volunteered extensively, her work taking her to various parts of the world, where she taught English, and she taught children with special needs at a primary school.

Ms. Woodman's commitment to social work is reflected in her membership with the National Association of Social Workers. Throughout her career, her determination and patience have been pivotal in achieving success, driving her efforts to advocate for increased mental health services for refugees at both local and national levels. Her advocacy has led to changes to refugee resettlement agencies and community health centers to incorporate mental health care during initial resettlement process.

Outside of her professional life, Ms. Woodman enjoys hiking, camping, and spending days by the ocean. She is also actively involved with civic organizations, such as Harvard Humanitarian Sectors' Yearly Crisis Simulation and Worcester RISE for health. Looking ahead, she aims to continue advocating for language access in mental health services and hopes to establish a nonprofit organization that will provide training for interpreters in this field. Her ultimate goal is to empower new immigrant communities by encouraging them to pursue careers as entrepreneurs or social workers, thereby increasing representation and helping individuals achieve their career aspirations.
