Mr. Veech's career journey is a testament to his adaptability and diverse skill set. After earning a Bachelor of Science in accounting, magna cum laude from Lehigh University in 1980, he furthered his education with a JD, cum laude from Boston University School of Law in 1983. He embarked on his professional career as an attorney with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, and then in private practice, in Washington, D.C. His professional path led him from Washington, D.C. to New York City, where he practiced law with the top Wall Street law firm of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom.
In the mid-1990's, Mr. Veech capitalized on the opportunity to transition from the practice of law to investment banking, joining the fixed income division of Salomon Brothers, and, thereafter, the investment banking division of Lehman Brothers. While at Lehman Brothers, as a Managing Director, he led that firm's global infrastructure project finance business for over 10 years. After successfully running the project finance business, Mr. Veech capitalized on the opportunity to join the firm's Private Equity Division, where he was involved in infrastructure and energy transition investing.
Upon leaving Lehman Brothers, Mr. Veech was recruited by Morgan Stanley's private equity arm to manage the Americas region for Morgan Stanley Infrastructure Partners, the firm's global infrastructure investing business. As a Managing Director and Americas Regional Head, Mr. Veech was a key part of the management team which raised and invested Morgan Stanley Infrastructure Partners funds I, II and III, which aggregated approx. $ 16 billion. Mr. Veech led investments in the power, utilities, natural resources, digital and transportation sectors. He also developed substantial experience serving on boards of directors, including private companies such as SkyPower Global, Southern Star Central Gas Pipeline, Eureka Midstream, Chicago Parking Meters, LLC, Brazos Midstream, Red Oak Power and Bayonne Energy Center and public companies such as Hoegh LNG Partners LP.
After almost 14 years with Morgan Stanley, Mr. Veech joined Marathon Capital. As Managing Partner and Chief Investment Officer of Marathon Capital Partners, he was focused on investments in sustainable technology, clean power and infrastructure.
Mr. Veech's commitment to social responsibility is evident in his philanthropic activities. Beyond his professional work, Mr. Veech has been deeply involved with the special needs community for most of his adult life.
While Mr. Veech's career has been filled with highlights, he is not one to rest on his laurels. He attributes his success to his ability to avoid office politics, while staying focused on the mission and delivering good results for the clients, as well as the strong work ethic instilled in him by his father.
Looking ahead, Mr. Veech recently joined Sustainability Partners, LLC as its Chief Executive Officer. Sustainability Partners is an innovative and disruptive provider of infrastructure projects for state and local governments, hospitals and universities. Sustainability Partners pioneered the Infrastructure as a Service ("Iaas") ® model, which results in simplified procurement and maintenance for the customer, as well as improved quality of essential services for the public. Mr. Veech will be responsible for determining strategy, driving growth and raising capital for the company.
