NYACK, NY, January 09, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Ingemar P. Kinnmark, PhD, has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Dr. Kinnmark, a distinguished mathematical researcher, has significantly contributed to numerical methods, particularly in solving differential equations. His work introduced a theoretical perspective on stability, which has gained increased interest and application over the years. Since retiring from research and academia, he has embraced his passion for genealogy as an independent researcher, tracing connections among approximately 230,000 individuals.
Having begun his career with mandatory military service at F2 Hägernäs as part of the Swedish Armed Forces from 1973 to 1974, Dr. Kinnmark was subsequently acquired by the Water Resources Department of the Royal Institute in Sweden, where he conducted pioneering research on heat storage in aquifers. In 1984, Dr. Kinnmark joined the University of Notre Dame as a postdoctoral research associate and later became an assistant professor until 1989.
Dr. Kinnmark transitioned to a career as a freelance translator specializing in technical translation from English to Swedish, leveraging his technical education from Sweden and the U.S. He was active in this capacity from 1989 until his retirement in 2016.
During his tenure as a scholar, Dr. Kinnmark published several referred articles on one-step methods for numerical solutions of differential equations between 1984 and 1987 and authored "The Shallow Water Wave Equations: Formulation, Analysis and Application" in 1985.
Dr. Kinnmark earned a master's degree in engineering physics from the Royal Institute of Technology in his hometown of Stockholm in 1978, where he was recognized as the equivalent of valedictorian. His academic excellence earned him the Hesselgren Honor Stipend in 1979. Subsequently, Dr. Kinnmark pursued further studies in the U.S. at the prestigious Princeton University in Princeton, New Jersey, earning a Master of Arts in civil engineering in 1982 and a Doctor of Philosophy in civil engineering in 1984. He was notably awarded the Wallace Memorial Honorific Fellowship at Princeton University in 1983.
Despite his passion for mathematics, Dr. Kinnmark continues to focus on exploring genealogy in retirement. He attributes much of his success to his opportunities in the U.S.
