LOMBARD, IL, January 14, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Scott Bockelman has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Mr. Bockelman is a distinguished expert in software development, renowned for his ability to understand complex business problems and leverage computer software to facilitate, automate, or resolve them. With more than 30 years of experience in the field, he has made significant contributions to the industry, particularly through his role as director of software development at Oracle from 2012 to 2023. During his tenure, he was instrumental in developing an application that employs predictive analytics to estimate the time and costs associated with clinical trials. This innovative software was notably utilized by Pfizer and Moderna in planning the clinical trials for the COVID-19 vaccine.
Prior to his directorial role, Mr. Bockelman served as a senior manager of software development at Oracle from 2012 to 2015. His leadership and technical acumen were pivotal in advancing several open-source projects and collaborating with startup founders. Before joining Oracle, he was a senior software architect at ClearTrial from 2006 to 2012, where he honed his skills in designing robust software solutions. His earlier roles include positions at Cobite from 2003 to 2006 and as a software consultant and application developer at Entology from 2001 to 2003.
Mr. Bockelman's career began at Vertek, where he served as department manager of solutions development from 1997 to 2001. His consulting work for AT&T during this period was crucial in facilitating the transition of commerce to the Internet. He also worked with Lotus Development Corporation, further solidifying his expertise in software development. Throughout his career, he has been recognized with several awards, including Top Contributor at Oracle, a Most Valuable Employee Award at Vertek and Project of the Year at Vertek.
In addition to his professional achievements, Mr. Bockelman holds a Bachelor of Arts in English literature from Indiana University Bloomington, which he earned in 1991. He attributes much of his success to active listening and understanding problems comprehensively before responding. This approach has enabled him to effectively address customer challenges and prioritize their needs above all else. In addition, two mentors made a significant impact early in his career. Dr. Charles Kelleher helped Mr. Bockelman develop his client relations skills and communication techniques, while Darryl Anderson provided invaluable guidance in engineering best practices.
Mr. Bockelman's dedication to continual learning and embracing new experiences underscores his commitment to both personal growth and professional excellence. His 2019 patent for a framework for modeling a clinical trial study using a cross-over treatment design exemplifies his innovative spirit and lasting impact on the industry.
Outside of his career, Mr. Bockelman is a proud father of two children: a son who is a video game designer and a daughter who is a middle school math teacher. He has been playing music since he was 12 and enjoys composing and producing music in his personal time. Currently, he's working on a number of open-source projects, talking to several startup founders and helping his son write a video game. Looking ahead, he aims to contribute more significantly to the developer community through teaching and tutoring roles, focusing on helping others navigate the complexities of software development.
