CARSON CITY, NV, January 15, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Terry R. Long, RN, BSN, has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Ms. Long is distinguished for her 45 years of commitment to the healthcare profession. Since 1978, she has served as a dedicated employee of Carson Tahoe Regional Healthcare, a leading not-for-profit and locally owned healthcare system, first as an award-winning registered nurse and, today, as manager of employee health. In her current role, Ms. Long is responsible for educating her colleagues about health benefits and procedures for managing work-related injuries, overseeing workers' compensation matters, and other duties to support the health and wellness of her organization's workforce.
The impressive healthcare journey that Ms. Long has traversed over her career began when she was just 16 years old, when she signed on as a volunteer at a local hospital. Over the years, her career trajectory evolved under the guidance of her mentors and supervisors, namely respiratory therapy and laboratory managers who encouraged her to take on roles as an electrocardiogram technician and phlebotomist while pursuing her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Nevada, Reno. While she initially pursued a pre-medical track, the rigorous nature and financial constraints associated with becoming a physician led Ms. Long to reconsider her career path. After thoughtful consideration, she redirected her focus toward nursing, a decision that has proven to be an ideal fit for her professional aspirations. Ms. Long went on to work in surgical orthopedics, a field she grew to love, having endured knee injuries and undergone numerous surgeries stemming from her high school basketball days.
After a brief stint as an infection control practitioner, Ms. Long transitioned to the field of employee health based on a recommendation from a friend. She spent four years dedicated to this field, finding a sense of assurance in her role owing to her proficiency in workers' compensation matters. Subsequently, the human resources department established an independent employee health division, where she currently holds the position of department Manager. Ms. Long's insistence on precision and adherence to high standards has cultivated a workplace culture that fosters trust and reliance among her colleagues and stakeholders. Additionally, she has been instrumental in enhancing communication within Carson Tahoe Regional Healthcare, particularly in the realm of employee health. Under her leadership, the division has become a go-to destination for individuals seeking information related to employee health. Ms. Long takes pride in the trust and reliance that people now place in the department.
Looking toward her professional future, Ms. Long strives to contribute to the development of her facility's occupational medicine clinic, providing employees with a dedicated resource for injury-related treatment and medical care. When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Richard Long, as well as their children, daughter-in-law, son-in-law and grandchildren. An outdoors enthusiast, her favorite pastimes include fishing, hiking and snowmobile racing -- including competing with her husband in Alaska's Iron Dog Race, the world's longest high-speed cross-country snowmobile race.
