Under Mr. Brown's leadership, KETCH Consulting has empowered numerous organizations by equipping them with the necessary skills to handle challenging situations, ranging from disaster recovery, risk assessment, and workplace violation prevention to cybersecurity contract negotiations.
Mr. Brown's career began with an impressive 30-year tenure at IBM, where he initially focused on traditional hardware, software and services. In the late 1980s, IBM ventured into the recovery business, and he was handpicked to lead the sales operation for this new venture. Mr. Brown's role involved overseeing recovery centers and managing a team of consultants. By the time he retired a decade later, he had helped grow the revenue from zero to $1 billion. Mr. Brown previously garnered success as the vice president at Strohl Systems from 1998 to 2003, where he interacted with clients and managed an IBM Strohl partnership.
In preparation for his career, Mr. Brown received a bachelor's degree from Pennsylvania State University. In addition to his professional achievements, he has been actively involved in various industry-related organizations. He is a member of the Disaster Recovery Institute, the Business Continuity Institute, and the Association of Continuity Professionals. Mr. Brown's civic affiliations include his pro bono work for Pennsylvania State University, where he serves as a trustee. He has also had the honor of participating in commencement ceremonies and awarding degrees, which allow him to share his thoughts and encourage graduates. Mr. Brown has been elected four times to his role and has also chaired the institution's risk subcommittee.
Among Mr. Brown's most notable success stories as the owner of KETCH was his collaboration with Acco, a billion-dollar heavy construction company in California. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, his firm formulated a comprehensive business continuity plan for Acco, which enabled the company to seamlessly transition to remote operations when its physical office space became inaccessible.
Throughout his career, Mr. Brown has also received several prestigious awards that reflect his dedication and expertise. In 2000, he was elected to the Continuity Planning Management Hall of Fame for outstanding work in the Virgin Islands. In 2017, he received the Consultant of The Year and Lifetime Achievement Award from the Disaster Recovery International Organization.
