Dr. Vilasuso is an experienced physician and interventional pain specialist with over 15 years of experience in invasive surgical pain medicine procedures. He has been associated with Anesthesia Pain Care Consultants (APCC) since 2015, where he performs procedures exclusively and sees new patients twice weekly. Additionally, Dr. Vilasuso has been an associate at DxTx Pain and Spine in South Florida since 2015.

Before his current ventures, Dr. Vilasuso operated his own practice, Javier Vilasuso, MD, LLC, from 2010 to 2024. He also excelled in leadership as the vice president of Miami Pain Specialists between 2010 and 2015.

Dr. Vilasuso's expertise encompasses a range of advanced pain management techniques, including lumbar decompression, sacroiliac joint fusion, intradiscal ozone, chemonucleolysis and spinal cord stimulation for patients suffering from intractable chronic pain syndromes, such as failed back surgery syndrome and ERPS. His most significant accomplishment lies in providing patients with solutions to their chronic pain through minimally invasive procedures while avoiding the use of opioids. Notably, Dr. Vilasuso is one of the few pain specialists in the U.S. who performs intradiscal ozone and chemonucleolysis, techniques introduced by his father in 2005.

In preparation for his career in medicine, Dr. Vilasuso received a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and chemistry, cum laude, from the University of Miami and a Doctor of Medicine from the Miller School of Medicine at the University of Miami in 2004. Additional educational pursuits to his credit included a residency in anesthesiology from 2004 to 2008 and a fellowship in pain medicine between 2008 and 2010 at the University of South Florida.

A founding member of the American Board of Specialists for Interventional Pain Medicine since 2024, Dr. Vilasuso is also affiliated with several other prestigious organizations, including the American Medical Association, the American Society of Pain and Neuroscience, the American Society of Regional Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine, and the American Board of Anesthesiology.

Dr. Vilasuso's dedication to his field has earned him numerous accolades, including the Best in Florida Award in 2022 and the Excellence Award in Pain Medicine for three consecutive years between 2022 and 2024. He attributes much of his success to his family's legacy in medicine, hailing from many physicians, including his grandfather, father, uncle and cousin. His father has been a significant influence on his approach to patient care.
