Prior to that, she was a staff psychiatrist at The Ross Center in Washington, DC from 2007 to 2020. Additionally, she held the position of medical director at the Episcopal Center for Children from 2009 to 2017.

Dr. Bekhrad's expertise spans a wide range of psychiatric conditions, including ADHD, mood disorders, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, trauma-related disorders, women's health issues, Autsim and other neurodevelopmental disabilities, POTS/Dysautonomia, and mental health challenges or existential distress associated with chronic medical illness. Her academic achievements have played a pivotal role in her success. Dr. Bekhrad completed a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 2005 and a residency in general adult psychiatry at the same institution in 2003. She completed an internship in obstetrics and gynecology at Northwestern University-The Feinberg School of Medicine in 2000 and Wayne State University School of Medicine in 1999. She graduated summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, with a Bachelor of Science in physiology from Michigan State University in 1994.

Dr. Bekhrad's dedication to her field has been recognized through numerous awards, including the Castle Connelly Top Doctors Award in 2019 and America's Top Psychiatrist Award from 2018 to 2024.
