Ms. Fordice's academic background includes a Bachelor of Science in child development and family studies from South Dakota State University, which she earned in 1984. She has worked with prestigious organizations such as Rice University, MD Anderson Cancer Center, and various medical schools in southern California and Chicago. She is also a senior fellow of the Meadows Mental Health Policy Institute.

She is also a founding member of the Children's Memorial Fund and a participant in the American Leadership Forum.
