In this capacity, he has also taught workforce development courses in various subjects to personnel at Chase Bank, Chevron Corporation, Sinopec, the largest downstream oil and gas company in China, Petro China, China National Offshore Oil Company and Missan Oil of Iraq. In addition to his work in education, Mr. McQueary provides expert testimony at trials and depositions through a private practice.
Before joining Houston Community College, Mr. McQueary was a project consultant for Resources Connection, Inc. and a vice president and controller for PREFCO, where he was responsible for accounting, treasury, payroll, credit, and computer functions. During the early stages of his career, he gained valuable expertise in management and auditing with companies such as Pennzoil, Aramco Services Company, Coopers and Lybrand, The Coastal Corporation, United Technologies, and Cummins Engine Company Inc. Similarly, Mr. McQueary has leveraged his expertise to review financial accounting and managerial accounting textbooks.
His educational background and professional certifications show Mr. McQueary's commitment to continuous learning. He holds a Bachelor of Science in marketing and a Master of Arts in accounting from Ball State University's Miller College of Business. Subsequently, he has become a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Fraud Examiner, Certified Information Systems Auditor, Certified Information Security Manager, and a Certified Global Management Accountant. His association with leading professional bodies demonstrates his dedication to staying abreast of ongoing industry changes.
Mr. McQueary's contributions to professional organizations and academic institutions are noteworthy. He has been an active member of Houston's Information Systems Audit and Control Association board. He has also been involved with Rice University's Open Stats Program, where he serves as a reviewer. His article "How to Comply with the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act of 1977" which won the Lybrand Certificate of Merit is a testament to his leadership in the field. Despite his numerous career highlights, Mr. McQueary takes the most pride in earning an Instructor of the Year Award for his dedication to education the NISOD Award and the Oustanding Accounting Educator Award from the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants both in 2011.
