A seasoned educational television and media content producer with over three and a half decades of professional experience, Mr. McQuilla excels as the owner of WMTV Communications, specializing in live video production, photography events, visual web content, and consulting. Over the last 10 years, he has photographed the RMC Energy Seasonal Event, Act Now Foundation's Brain Health Fair, and the NAACP Annual Dinner. Likewise, he directed and edited several music videos and produced Kool and the Gang's "Street Renaming" Ceremony and the 2007 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductions." Before establishing WMTV Communications, Mr. McQuilla was a virtual and creative freelance editor for HealthSTAR Communications, where he implemented media content for pharmaceutical healthcare clients at the organization's World Headquarters.
Over the years, Mr. McQuilla has honed his experience teaching freshman students the basics of storyboard creation, camera basics, editing basics, sound transitions, and more as a television instructor with the New Brunswick School District and as an audio-visual broadcast production technology teacher for Plainfield Academy of the Arts and Advanced Studies. During the early stages of his career, Mr. McQuilla also gained valuable expertise with Orange and East Orange Public Schools and as a staff ENG news editor for Tribune Broadcasting's "Early Morning News Show."
An expert in his field, Mr. McQuilla earned a Bachelor of Arts in radio and television broadcasting from Montclair State University in 1980. Subsequently, he expanded his professional knowledge by completing urban education and leadership coursework at St. Peters University and a certification in FCP 1 and FCP 2 through Future Media Concepts. In conjunction with his professional and educational pursuits, he is an InsiderNJ advisory board member and a lifetime Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity member. Similarly, Mr. McQuilla consistently donates to Ground to Resources.
A testament to his dedication to excellence, Mr. McQuilla has been honored many times, earning an NAACP Award and an Emmy Award for Best News Show from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences in 2001. In the ensuing years, he received an honorable mention for a Telly Award for "The Beam Signing" and won a Telly Award for "Dreams of Change." While his career has been filled with highlights, Mr. McQuilla takes the most pride in receiving his undergraduate degree, his two-time tenure as an educational television producer, and establishing a video program within the Jersey City School District.
Though hard work and dedication have brought him far in his career, Mr. McQuilla credits his success to his passion for what he does and his many mentors, particularly his two older cousins.
