Ms. Folkert is a distinguished professional in the field of quality assurance, engineering and manufacturing process improvement. She has been an integral part of Cummins Inc. for almost 20 years, currently holding the title of quality business manager since 2021. In this role, she is responsible for vehicle performance innovation (VPI) and new machining and assembly lines. She also oversees engine quality assessments and engine audit testing, including test limits for end-of-line testing. Leading multiple teams composed of five engineers and 15 technicians, she ensures that the highest standards are met.
Prior to her current position, Ms. Folkert served as the VPI program manager at Cummins Inc. from 2020 to 2021. In this capacity, she managed various aspects of the VPI program, ensuring that projects were completed on time and within budget. From 2017 to 2020, she was the VPI quality leader, where she focused on maintaining and improving quality standards across all VPI projects. Her role as VPI producibility leader from 2015 to 2017 involved enhancing the manufacturability of new products.
Ms. Folkert's career at Cummins Inc. began in 2005 when she joined as a cost of coverage engineer, a position she held until 2008. She then advanced to senior engineer, PQC, early ELF lead from 2008 to 2011, where she played a crucial role in early life failure analysis and prevention. As a Six Sigma Black Belt from 2011 to 2013, she led numerous process improvement projects that significantly enhanced operational efficiency. During her tenure as test operations team manager from 2013 to 2015, she managed test operations and ensured compliance with stringent quality standards.
One of Ms. Folkert's most remarkable professional accomplishments was her pivotal role in developing cutting-edge testing strategies at Cummins Inc., which set new industry standards. This groundbreaking work earned her team the prestigious Chairman's Quality Award in 2013, solidifying their impact within the organization.
Ms. Folkert's academic background includes a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo in 2003 and a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from North Carolina State University in Raleigh in 2005. She attributes her success to the continuous encouragement and support from her parents, who motivated her to pursue her passions and strive for personal growth.
In addition to her professional achievements, Ms. Folkert is actively involved in several civic-minded organizations. She has been an NC State recruiter for Cummins Inc. since 2006 and has served as head coach for the Capital Area Soccer League since 2016. Previously, she was head coach for Trinity Soccer Academy's Team Spirit from 2014 to 2015. She also donates to Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society, the Raleigh Rescue Mission, and Campus Crusade for Christ in the United States. Her church involvement further underscores her commitment to community service.
Outside of her career, Ms. Folkert enjoys coaching soccer, a passion that aligns with her leadership skills and dedication to mentoring others. Looking ahead, she envisions her career trajectory leading to the esteemed role of quality director within Cummins Inc., where she is dedicated to ongoing professional growth and development.
