During his tenure, he built the ads platform, a revenue critical system, while driving enhancements to Nextdoor.com and internal tooling designed to improve operational productivity of different team,s and contributed significantly to the company's culture that values kindness. Before Nextdoor, he was a software engineer at Chartmetric from 2020 until 2021, where he developed a single sign-on feature, led backend optimization efforts and incorporated essential features into the music analytics software. He also created an alerting and logging mechanism that helped internal software engineers identify problems, saving the company significant money.
Between 2017 and 2020, Mr. Soni was a founding software engineer at Converseon.AI. He built most of the company's data science and machine learning software and developed the company's flagship AI evaluation matrix platform, still utilized by data scientists and ML engineers to audit and refine machine learning models. His contributions were instrumental in establishing the company's technical foundation.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Soni served as a software test engineer at S&P Global Market Intelligence from 2015 to 2016 and at eClinicalWorks between 2011 and 2014. He began his professional journey as an associate software engineer at Accenture in 2011 after completing an internship as a network engineer at Tata Technologies in 2010.
Laying the path for Mr. Soni's professional journey was his academic background. In 2011, he obtained a Bachelor of Technology in electrical and electronics engineering from SVKM's Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies in India, followed by a Master of Science in computer science from New York University, which he earned in 2017. He has also contributed to the ElasticSearch Python SDK, enhancing functionality for enterprise search applications.
Mr. Soni created Runtimepad (https://runtimepad.com/), a secure, real-time collaborative code editor, which pioneered features like ephemeral sessions and AI-assisted error detection to promote responsible coding practices. With a focus on security, it facilitates real-time collaboration, offering features like syntax highlighting, IntelliSense for code completion, and instant error detection directly in the browser. Mr. Soni is a member of the International Association of Engineers (IAENG) (2025–present) and has volunteered as a software mentor for Springboard, guiding aspiring engineers in career development.
