LONGMONT, CO, February 07, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- David Robertus has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Mr. Robertus is a distinguished professional with over 25 years of experience in information technology. Throughout his career to date, he was a lead key player in developing the world's first 911 system for VoIP, the largest voter registration system in the world (still actively in use in 2024) for the State of Texas, and the modernization of the Florida Unemployment Compensation System. This system weathered the Great Recession supporting millions of families through those times. He currently holds the position of Staff Engineer at DexCare Health. In this role, he drives innovation, sets standards for engineers and QAs, and develops strategies that drive the company forward. Additionally, he takes on ad hoc managerial responsibilities and is deeply engaged with mentoring, conducting code reviews, and guiding the professional development of team members.
Before his current position at DexCare, Mr. Robertus served as Director of Quality Engineering at Shutterstock in 2022. From 2015 to 2020, he was an SDET and became the first Software Development Manager for QA at the same company, where he contributed to software development and testing efforts. Before moving to Shutterstock, he was a senior SDET at ReadyTalk from 2013 to 2015 and a Senior QA automation engineer at Tendril in 2012.
Mr. Robertus' earlier career includes roles such as software engineer at McKesson Provider Technologies from 2010 to 2012 and senior software engineer at Comcast for the preceding year. He also held a similar position at Access Data Consulting Corporation and Qwest Communications from 2008 to 2009. His foundational experiences include working as a contracting software engineer at DigitalGlobe from 2007 and 2008 as a senior software engineer at Hart InterCivic Inc. from 2006 to 2007 and Intrado from 2005 to 2006, and Vector Solutions from 2001 to 2003.
In addition to these roles, Mr. Robertus has been involved in various notable projects. He is most proud of playing a pivotal role in developing the 911 service for voice-over IP technology in Longmont around 2004. This significant project handled nearly all the 911 calls for voice-over IP and supported approximately 80 percent of cell phone 911 calls.
While not a software engineer by training, he studied Geography and Economics at the University of Texas; he operates within the software industry at some of its highest levels. He attributes much of his success in the field to the breadth of experiences and interests outside the field of computer sciences. "I don't need to know every detail of the latest programming trends; every engineer pursues that. Bridging the gaps between people's understanding will always pay off more than running with the herd."
Mr. Robertus's career has arched through a wide swath of fields. Coming out of college, he worked in environmental engineering and resource management as a CAD and GIS operator. Unlike most in that field, his breadth of experience and skills pulled him into such areas as network architecture, custom application design, data conversion, and others. He became very adept with JVM performance techniques, in many cases bringing extremely high levels of improvement to products already years old and in production. His career strategy has been to pursue a breadth of skills and understanding rather than industry trends, instead concentrating on areas frequently disregarded or lacking representation. This deliberate approach has seen him repeatedly be able to provide insight and value that had not been seen as opportunities even by combined specialists across multiple fields pursuing the same goals. His skill set in this regard continually sets him apart.
Mr. Robertus's academic background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Geography with a minor in Economics from The University of Texas at Austin, earned in 1996. His background in liberal education has equipped him with a unique mental toolset that allows him to approach problems differently than those with degrees in software engineering or computer science. This distinctive perspective has enabled him to find creative and innovative solutions throughout his career.
Beyond his professional duties, Mr. Robertus is an active sponsor within his local community, demonstrating his commitment to civic-minded organizations. He has also made significant contributions as part of the Scala Focus Group at ReadyTalk in 2014 and has been recognized for his work on voter registration and vote tabulation systems.
In his personal life, Mr. Robertus enjoys birdwatching and photography, has a typewriter repair business, and spends time with his family. He plans to remain dedicated to his passion for mentoring and providing guidance. His goal is to offer strategic guidance, possibly through serving on a board, and leverage his valuable perspective and experience to provide meaningful insights.
