ITHACA, NY, January 28, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Ho-Yin Kwok, DMA, has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. Dr. Kwok is distinguished in orchestral music, currently serving as the Artistic Director and Conductor of Mississippi Valley Orchestra since 2017 and Music Director of Lake Superior Chamber Orchestra since 2023. Additionally, Dr. Kwok has been Assistant Professor and Director of Orchestras at Ithaca College since, where he continues contributing to the academic and musical community. His 15-year tenure in this space has shaped his career, garnering respect and recognition as an expert.

Before his current commitments, Dr. Kwok was Assistant Professor and Director of Orchestral studies at Eastern Kentucky University from 2021 to 2023. During this time, he played a pivotal role in enhancing the institution's orchestral program. In 2020, he served as the Visiting Director of Orchestra and Violin Instructor at the University of Minnesota Duluth. Between 2019 and 2021, Dr. Kwok excelled as the Assistant Conductor and Director of Youth Symphony at the Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra. His experience during that time also included being a cover conductor for the Minnesota Orchestra in 2019.

Among other noteworthy roles, Dr. Kwok was previously Assistant Conductor of Collegium Musicum Hong Kong and has performed in esteemed venues such as New York's Carnegie Hall and Musikverein in Vienna. His most recent guest conducting engagements include the New World Symphony (FL), the Syracuse Orchestra (NY), Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra (MN), Arapahoe Philharmonic (CO), Cayuga Chamber Orchestra (NY), Gwinnett Symphony Chamber Orchestra (GA), and Eastern Festival Orchestra (NC).

Dr. Kwok's educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts Hong Kong Baptist University, a Master of from the University of Iowa and a Doctor of Musical Arts in orchestral conducting from the University of Minnesota. As part of his ongoing dedication to the industry, Dr. Kwok is a member of the College Orchestra Director Association, which underscores his commitment to advancing orchestral music education.

Throughout his career, Dr. Kwok has achieved significant milestones, including winning The American Prize in Conducting, Vincent C. LaGuardia Jr. Conducting Competition, and International Conductors Workshop and Competition. He attributes his success to a strong network built over years of hard work, invaluable mentorship, supportive peers, thorough preparation and perseverance. These elements have been instrumental in his journey and continue to influence his work. His principal teachers are Mark Russell Smith and William LaRue Jones.

Dr. Kwok aims to enhance the program at Ithaca College with aspirations for international recognition while continuing his collaboration with the Mississippi Valley Orchestra and the Lake Superior Chamber Orchestra. Open to future opportunities, he is considering taking on another music directorship with a professional orchestra as part of his long-term goals.
