WINCHESTER, MA, January 28, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Jason Everett Crowther, MD, PhD, has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. Dr. Crowther is an esteemed Assistant Professor at the University of Massachusetts (UMass) Chan Medical School, where he has been contributing to the fields of pain medicine, regional anesthesiology, general anesthesiology, and obstetric anesthesiology since 2023. He demonstrates his expertise through vital work in pain medicine procedures including steroid injections, nerve blocks, and neuromodulation. His dedication to advancing medical knowledge is evident in his successful grant acquisition and numerous research publications.

In addition to his role as an Assistant Professor, Dr. Crowther serves as an Anesthesiology Residency Assistant Program Director and Anesthesiology Third-Year Clerkship Director at UMass Chan Medical School, positions he has held since 2024. He previously worked as an Instructor in the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department at Baylor College of Medicine from 2011 to 2012. Earlier in his career, he was a visiting researcher at Beijing Normal University in 2006.

Dr. Crowther's professional journey is marked by significant accomplishments, including most recently his industry-sponsored research on closed-loop spinal cord stimulation and human activity monitoring with Saluda Medical. He also participated in an initiative of Los Angeles County related to implementation of post-operative pain management guidelines aimed at reducing prescribed opioids, and was a co-investigator of a grant with a total budget of $75,000. While at New-York Presbyterian, he worked with other resident physicians on a quality improvement project focused on operating room sustainability through waste reduction. His commitment to improving health care practices is further reflected in his involvement with the Massachusetts Society of Anesthesiologists as an Investments Committee Member.

Dr. Crowther's academic background is extensive and diverse. He completed a pain medicine fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School in 2023. He trained as an Anesthesiology Resident Physician at Weill Cornell Medicine at New York-Presbyterian from 2019 to 2022, after completing an internship in General Surgery at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in 2019. Additionally, he earned a Doctor of Medicine from the Tulane University School of Medicine in 2018 after completing pre-medical studies at Harvard University Extension School in 2013. His educational endeavors include a postdoctoral research fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine, a Doctor of Philosophy in Psychology and Cognitive Neuroscience from Rice University, and dual bachelor's degrees in Cognitive Psychology and Germanic Languages and Literatures with a minor in Philosophy from the University of Kansas.

To augment his professional qualifications, Dr. Crowther holds several certifications, including a Massachusetts Medical License obtained in 2022. He attributes his success to his innate curiosity about how the world works, which drove him to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy, along with perseverance and the unwavering support of his family.

Throughout his career, Dr. Crowther has been actively involved in civic organizations, volunteering at Presbyterian Manors, Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, INOVA Fairfax Hospital, the American Red Cross, and medical student clinics between 1998 and 2018, as well as volunteering to assist evacuees after Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and the Louisiana Flooding of 2016 . His academic accomplishments and research contributions have been recognized with several awards, including the Resident Research Award from Weill Cornell Medicine in 2022, the Graduate Student Research Award from the Academy of Aphasia in 2008, and a National Merit Finalist Scholarship in 1998.

A prolific writer, Dr. Crowther has co-authored numerous publications that highlight his research interests and expertise. His notable works include "Spinal cord stimulation in the treatment of cancer pain: A retrospective review", published in Neuromodulation in 2022, and two review papers on the use of virtual reality in chronic pain management, both published in Current Pain and Headache Reports.

Dr. Crowther balances his professional life with personal interests such as scuba diving and snowboarding with his children. He is certified as an advanced open water scuba diver by the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI). Looking to the future with optimism, he aims to extend his research on neuromodulation and technology to improve patient outcomes.
