COVINGTON, LA, February 03, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Dena Lynn Lodato, small animal surgeon and medical director of Resurge Veterinary Surgical Specialists and Rehabilitation LLC, was selected by Marquis Who's Who for a prominent feature in the Texas Edition of The Wall Street Journal, published on October 31, 2024.

As an experienced small animal surgeon, Dr. Lodato provides top-quality referral surgical care at Resurge Veterinary Surgical Specialists and Rehabilitation LLC. After spending more than 10 years in the veterinary industry, she forged out on her own and established Resurge Veterinary Surgical Specialists and Rehabilitation in 2021, serving as both a surgeon and the business' medical director. She frequently provides consultations and accepts animals referred to her for surgical disease or hyperbaric oxygen treatment. Prior to opening her own office, she worked as a small animal surgeon at South Paws Veterinary Specialists for five years.

Dr. Lodato began her education at Rutgers University, earning a bachelor's degree in animal science in 2003. Pursuing further field credentials, she graduated from Mississippi State University in 2008 with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and entered an internship with the Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine. She then pursued a surgical specialty internship at Louisiana Veterinary Referral Center. Returning to Mississippi State University, she completed a residency in small animal surgery in 2013. The same year, she received another degree from Mississippi State University, graduating with a Master of Science.

Once her education was complete, Dr. Lodato joined Red Bank Veterinary Hospital as a small animal surgeon. She then moved to the Animal Emergency and Referral Center, an affiliate of the Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine, where she continued her work as a small animal surgeon until 2015, when she joined South Paws Veterinary Specialists.

In addition to her hands-on career experience, Dr. Lodato is a prolific author in her field, having published numerous articles in professional journals. Her work includes "Rectal masses," published in Clinical Veterinary Advisor: Dogs and Cats and "Techniques for performing corrective surgery on dogs with brachycephalic airway syndrome," published in Today's Veterinary Practice. Other pieces such as "Retrospective Study Comparing FiberWire and Nylon Leader Line Used in the Lateral Fabellar Suture Technique" and "Brachycephalic airway syndrome: management" have been published in notable outlets such as the Journal of the American Animal Hospital Association and Compendium: Continuing Education For Veterinarians.

Outside of her work at Resurge Veterinary Surgical Specialists and Rehabilitation, Dr. Lodato is active in civic causes and organizations. While attending Mississippi State University, she served as the class representative for the university's student chapter of the American Veterinary Medical Association for three years. Presently, she is an active member of the Louisiana Board of Veterinary Medicine, the American College of Veterinary Surgeons and the American Veterinary Medical Association.

Looking to the future, Dr. Lodato is committed to the continued success of Resurge Veterinary Surgical Specialists and Rehabilitation. Her practice is the only referral hospital in the area that offers acupuncture for animals, making it a necessary resource for animals in need of acupuncture therapy. She enjoys mentoring veterinary students during two-week externships and hopes to accept more opportunities to educate future veterinarians.
