Ms. Liburd oversees the compliance and risk management arm of Microsoft Business Operations, ensuring that the company engages with reputable third parties and proactively manages risk in the areas of global trade, digital safety, AI governance and regulation and corruption.

Additionally, she leads a team responsible for moderating harmful content and training large language models (LLMs). Ms. Liburd consistently focuses on allocating resources to the highest priority areas, recognizing good work and ensuring diverse perspectives are represented across all her teams.

Affiliated with Microsoft since 2011, Ms. Liburd initially joined the organization as a Senior Project Manager. She eventually advanced to the Director of Internal Audit for Microsoft's Asia-Pacific region. She served in this role from 2014 to 2018 and was based in Singapore, a role she describes as career-defining. During this period, Ms. Liburd stepped outside her comfort zone to define success in an unprecedented role and in an environment that was completely new to her. She learned to navigate relationships and business practices across very culturally diverse and rapidly developing markets. Between 2018 and 2020, she served as a Senior Audit Director for Microsoft's Corporate Program before expanding her role to Internal Audit Leadership from 2020 to 2022.

Before her tenure at Microsoft, Ms. Liburd spent over a decade in public accounting (from 2000 to 2011) where she grew to the role of Senior Manager at KPMG. Her extensive experience in internal audit allowed her to travel globally, gaining a comprehensive understanding of international business practices and associated risks. This global perspective proved pivotal in her success at Microsoft.

Ms. Liburd has held a Bachelor of Science in accounting from Alabama A&M University since 1998, graduated Summa Cum Laude and received the Award for the Most Outstanding Student in the School of Business in her senior year. She is also a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the National Association of Black Accountants and the Washington Society of Certified Public Accountants. Ms. Liburd's academic background, certifications, and memberships have significantly contributed to her expertise in risk and compliance.

Apart from her work-related endeavors, Ms. Liburd has been active civically. Most notably, she has served as the executive sponsor for her organization during Microsoft's annual giving campaign. An effort that has helped raise millions of dollars for charities around the world and committed thousands of volunteer hours to these causes.

Throughout her career, Ms. Liburd has been recognized for her contributions and leadership. Among her accolades, she received the CFO People Award from Microsoft. Ms. Liburd's success is attributed to her driven nature, people skills, and the support of mentors, sponsors, and coaches who have provided her with opportunities to excel.
