AUSTIN, TX, February 10, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Dr. Thomas Grimshaw with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Grimshaw celebrates many years of experience and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, his profile is selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as positions, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are considered during the selection process.
Dr. Grimshaw has had two phases in his professional career, the first in environmental protection and clean up, and the second in pursuit of cold fusion as a remarkable potential new energy source. He earned a B.S in geological engineering from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology in 1967, followed by M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in geology from The University of Texas at Austin (UT) in 1970 in 1976. Between the M.A. and Ph.D. degrees he began his professional journey as a US Army officer. In 2008 he undertook a career change with a M.P.Aff. (Master of Public Affairs) degree at UT's LBJ School of Public Affairs. He focused on energy policy and wrote his professional report on public policy toward cold fusion, which constituted his entry into the field.
Given that energy from cold fusion may become available to replace fossil fuels, its potential value to humanity has skyrocketed with recognition of the global climate change crisis. Dr. Grimshaw believes that cold fusion was mistakenly rejected by mainstream science, which happened within a year or so of its announcement in 1989. He began his work in the field with an analysis of public policies toward cold fusion support for research and development. Using arguments based on evidence-based policymaking, he showed that the current negative public policies stemming from the rejection must be changed. Subsequently, he developed public interest arguments for proactive measures to deal with cold fusion's secondary impacts. Technology assessment was put forward as an effective way to address these impacts of cold fusion as a highly disruptive new technology.
In his pursuit of realizing cold fusion benefits, Dr. Grimshaw held three positions over 12 years at The University of Texas at Austin. Four years ago, he focused his efforts in his firm LENRGY, LLC. The name is a contraction of LENR (another name for cold fusion) and energy, cold fusion's primary potential benefit. In his academic and private sector positions, he has received over $100,000 in total for expenses for his cold fusion work. He has prepared or been the lead author of more than 90 cold fusion papers, articles, reports and presentations.
Prior to change into cold fusion, Dr. Grimshaw worked for several decades in the environmental field, both in academia and the private sector. He applied his geology training in projects for both environmental planning for the future and cleanup of legacy pollution problems. During this time, he was licensed as a professional geologist in Texas. He continues to maintain his membership in the American Institute of Professional Geologists.
Dr. Grimshaw's training in geology, engineering and policy analysis, as well as his environmental career, have served as a strong foundation for his work in the cold fusion field. As a geologist, he lived through the paradigm-shifting development of plate tectonics, which was introduced more than 50 years before it became widely accepted, He therefore has the experience and perspective needed to deal with the continuing rejection of LENR despite its large body of evidence and immense potential energy benefits. His work is driven by his acute awareness that the future of humankind depends on reversal of current negative policies toward cold fusion to deal with the global climate change crisis.
