When Mr. Song joined Meta in 2018 as global quality assurance and quality control building information model coordinator, he initially focused on designing project health metrics for data center construction globally and building a team dedicated to digitalizing construction process and facility operations. Moreover, he was the first individual to bridge the gap between the construction industry with the technology world at the company. With a robust background in civil engineering, he has effectively connected these two fields, ensuring seamless communication and information flow between them.

In his current role as global quality tooling and analytics program manager at Meta, which he has held since 2021, Mr. Song is responsible for overseeing the global data center construction quality and tooling platform. His leadership has been pivotal in transforming his team from a single member to a group of up to 15 members over just over five years. Additionally, Mr. Song has introduced technology to the construction field, enhancing productivity and visibility for senior leadership while embracing digital advancements.

Before his tenure at Meta, Mr. Song held the position of virtual design and construction (VDC) director at Plaza Construction from 2015 to 2018. In this capacity, he played a crucial role in integrating VDC methodologies into projects, further solidifying his expertise in merging technology with traditional construction practices. Leading up to his time there, he worked as a project engineer at Turner Construction Company from 2013 to 2015, following his initial role as a VDC building information modeling (BIM) engineer at the same company from 2011 to 2013.

Originally from China, Mr. Song pursued his high school education in Europe, where he first developed a deep interest in the region's architectural history, which ultimately led him to pursue a career in construction. Specifically, he was captivated by how the buildings could transport individuals back in time, with each structure telling its own unique story. As he delved deeper into his studies, he was drawn to math and physics, ultimately seeking out a field that would blend these passions.

Mr. Song's educational journey led him to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with a minor in architectural design from the Viterbi School of Engineering at the University of Southern California in 2010 followed by a Master of Science in Construction Management from Columbia University in 2011. Soon after, he stepped into his first professional role as a BIM specialist at Horizontal Systems Inc. Beyond his degrees and hands-on experience, his academic pursuits were complemented by several certifications, including BIM-specific certifications from the Associated General Contractors of America in 2014 as well as becoming a LEED accredited professional through the U.S. Green Building Council in California in 2010 after earning his Engineer-in-Training from the Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists in 2009.

As a result of his professional achievements and experience, Mr. Song holds membership with the Associated General Contractors of America and is a founding partner of the New York Civil Engineering Association. Most recently, in recognition of his contributions to the field, he was honored with the 40 Under 40 Award as a Champion of Construction by Autodesk Construction Cloud in 2024. Outside of his professional life, Mr. Song enjoys playing golf, snowboarding and using his knowledge of construction to build with Legos.

Moreover, Mr. Song is dedicated to helping his community, which is evident through his weekly volunteer work with those who are homeless. As he continues in his career, he aims to continue helping the construction industry embrace technology by enhancing data center design with valuable construction insights and shaping customer design to ensure infrastructure readiness for future demands. Specifically, Mr. Song's vision includes addressing challenges related to artificial intelligence and machine learning as well as potential issues such as power shortages and labor workforce gaps.
