Mr. Joglekar is a distinguished professional with over 25 years of experience in the pharmaceutical and health care sectors. Currently, he serves as the chief of clinical services at the Maryland Department of Health Office of Pharmacy Services, a position he has held since 2017. In this role, he manages the clinical services division for the Maryland Medicaid Pharmacy Program, overseeing two major contracts for the Program. His responsibilities include reviewing and approving utilization management, Formulary/PDL (Preferred Drug List) reviews, numerous clinical and policy reviews, oversee Boards, Committees and special group meetings including Drug Use Review Board, CMC Advisory Committee, Pharmacy and Therapeutic Committee, Research, Identify, implement and execute cost containment strategies, Value-Base Contracting Methodologies applicable to the Medicaid Pharmacy Program, Clinical Criteria Committee management, Managed Care Organizations' Pharmacy Program Oversight, POSECMS clinical modules' systematic workflow and test result reviews and approvals, medical professional detailing as deemed necessary on a case by case basis, policy creation, protocol setups, stakeholders' inquiries, Program's special projects and RFP (Request for Proposal) developments and procurements. He is also adept at managing vendors and writing proposals and requirements.
Prior to his current role, Mr. Joglekar was a clinical pharmacist specializing in Medicare Part D at CVS Health's CD&A division from 2015 to 2017. In 2015, he served as the chief of pharmacy operations and supervising pharmacist at Roseville Pharmacy and as a specialty pharmacist at Bergen Pharmacy. From 2006 until 2015, he was a pharmacist and eventually worked as a pharmacy manager and immunizing pharmacist at ACME/Sav-On Markets Pharmacy.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Joglekar worked as a pharmacist at Brooks/Eckerd Pharmacy between 2003 and 2006. His initial experience included serving as a graduate assistant at Long Island University from 2001 to 2002 and holding positions in management supervision and quality control in India with Cipla and Nicholas Piramal India Ltd., respectively.
Throughout his journey, Mr. Joglekar's expertise in clinical services, vendor management, project management and procurement has been well recognized. His exceptional vendor management skills are particularly notable as he effectively establishes deliverables, timelines and protocols while reporting requirements to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services annually. He also reviews legislation to set up compliance protocols from a clinical perspective and analyzes incoming legislation to provide informed recommendations.
Laying the foundation for Mr. Joglekar's accomplishments was his academic background. He earned a Bachelor of Pharmacy from Saraswathi Vidya Bhavan's College of Pharmacy in India in 1998, followed by a Master of Science in pharmaceuticals and health care administration and policy from Long Island University in 2006. He is also currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration in health care administration at the University of Southern Indiana.
Further distinguishing Mr. Joglekar in his field are his many accreditations. He is a registered licensed pharmacist with both the Maryland Board of Pharmacy and the State Board of Pharmacy in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Additionally, he has earned a Six Sigma Green Belt from Villanova University.
Mr. Joglekar is an active member of several industry-related organizations, including the American Drug Utilizations Review Society, the Maryland Drug Utilization Review Board, and the Maryland Medicaid Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee since 2017. He has also been involved with the Regulatory Affairs Professionals Society since 2014 (currently not active) and previously used to be associated with the Indo American Pharmaceuticals Society and the Indian Pharmaceutical Association.
Beyond his professional life, Mr. Joglekar is committed to charitable work through organizations like World Vision and AIM For Seva. He has been recognized with awards such as the Graduate Assistant Scholarship Award from Long Island University and the Rho Chi Pharmacy Honor Society Award. He, most recently, also received certification of recognition from Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS), The International Business Honor Society, for his academic excellence and accomplishments.
