As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Dr. Roop is the founder and chief executive officer of the Center for Trait-Based Transformation, an addiction recovery center he established in 2023. Leveraging his extensive background, his innovative Trait-Based Model of Recovery has been instrumental in addiction treatment, expanding to over 15 organizations across five states since its introduction in June 2023. This model's success has also led to the development of the Trait-Based Model of Prevention, launched in October 2024, aimed at helping students manage emotions and build leadership skills.
Having experienced years of struggle with addiction and recovery, Dr. Roop is passionate about helping others heal. His struggle and subsequent success through a residential program have profoundly influenced his career path, where he is now dedicated to helping others facing similar challenges.
In his role, Dr. Roop is responsible for business development, engaging with treatment providers and state organizations, and handling various marketing tasks. He also conducts data analysis and prepares reports for peer-reviewed publications. In addition to his contributions to the center, Dr. Roop is the vice president of research and development at Hometown Health System.
Dr. Roop served as an assistant professor of business at Campbellsville University from 2023 to 2025. Before these academic roles, Dr. Roop was the executive director of the Workforce Education Center at Campbellsville University from 2022 to 2023.
Beginning his educational journey with a bachelor's degree in psychology and chemistry from Tusculum University in 1999, Dr. Roop later earned a Master of Theology in theological studies in 2017 and a Doctor of Philosophy in management and leadership in 2022 from Campbellsville University. His dissertation focused on leadership traits in addiction recovery, which laid the foundation for his Trait-Based Model of Recovery. Additionally, Dr. Roop holds a project management essentials certification from the Project Management Institute Inc., further enhancing his professional capabilities.
Dr. Roop's academic contributions are complemented by his membership in industry-related organizations, such as the Kentucky Opioid Abatement Advisory Commission and the National Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors. He has also been actively involved in civic organizations. He served on the board of directors for Hometown Connect Inc., was a pastor at a local church, and volunteered for weekly food distribution and transportation services for those in need.
In addition to his primary career objectives, Dr. Roop's expertise in recovery and leadership is reflected in his publications, including "Unexpected Heroes: How People in Addiction Recovery Can Help Solve the Crisis of The Great Resignation" and "Addiction and Leadership: How Authentic and Transformative Leaders are Emerging from the Adversity of Substance Use Disorder," both released in 2022.
Dr. Roop's dedication to community service is recognized through awards, such as the Roop Award in 1999 and the Innovator of the Year by Young People In Recovery in 2024.
