His journey with SERI began in 1978 when he co-founded the organization with the late Brian Wraxall. Over the years, he has held various positions, including senior forensic serologist, quality assurance manager, chief forensic serologist and assistant laboratory director. His leadership and commitment have been instrumental in training over 250 forensic serologists and working on numerous cases across the U.S.

Mr. Harmor's expertise in forensic serology and DNA analysis is widely recognized. In addition to his primary career objectives at SERI, he has testified as an expert in hundreds of cases across more than 20 states, including federal and military courts.

Before his tenure at SERI, Mr. Harmor served as a staff research associate at the University of California Berkeley from 1976 to 1977. His early career was also shaped by his military service, where he served his country for four years. This experience instilled a strong sense of integrity and honesty, which he has carried throughout his professional life.

Mr. Harmor's educational background laid a solid foundation for his career achievements. He earned an Associate of Arts from Sacramento City College in 1974. Subsequently, he graduated from California State University in Sacramento with a Bachelor of Science in forensic science and minors in chemistry and biological science, with honors, in 1976. Mr. Harmor's academic pursuits were driven by a lifelong fascination with science and police work, which he discovered during his teenage years. In addition to his degrees, Mr. Harmor has been certified as a forensic analyst by the Texas Forensic Science Commission since 2019.

Mr. Harmor is also actively involved in several professional organizations that reflect his dedication to forensic science. He is a fellow of the American Board of Criminalistics in forensic biology and holds memberships with the California Association of Criminalists, the California Association of Crime Laboratory Directors, and the Association of Forensic Quality Assurance Managers.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Mr. Harmor is committed to civic engagement through his involvement with Cats' Crossroads, a nonprofit organization founded by his wife, Kathleen Ann Gayfield-Harmor. He also volunteers with veterans organizations, reflecting his dedication to giving back to the community.
