Mr. Colen is a distinguished figure in the medical technology industry. Since 2023, he has been chairing the board of directors at Xeltis, a medical device company established in Switzerland. Mr. Colen's expertise extends to his role as the president of MedTech Lighthouse in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, since 2015.

A career marked by notable achievements, Mr. Colen held significant positions, such as president and chief executive officer at Neovasc Inc., a specialty medical device company for the cardiovascular sector, from 2018 to 2023, where he introduced the novel Reducer treatment for Refractory Angina. He also enjoyed a tenure as the chief technology officer at Boston Scientific, a leading American global medical technology company, between 2001 and 2008. During this period, Mr. Colen led the development and market introduction of groundbreaking drug coating for coronary artery stents, revolutionizing treatment options for heart attack patients and for patients with coronary artery disease. This innovation significantly increased the company's market share in stents from approximately 5% to over 70% within seven weeks of introduction, driven by compelling clinical data that encouraged rapid adoption by health care providers. Mr. Colen also served as the vice president of cardiovascular research and development at Boston Scientific from 1999 to 2004 and as the President for the Cardiac Rhythm Management Group (including the acquired Guidant organization) from 2008 through 2010, where he quickly resolved all recall and compliance related issues, restored trust and confidence with customers and recovered worldwide revenue to $2.5B.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Colen held various leadership roles at Saint Jude Medical, Lewicki Microelectronics GmbH, Guidant, Eli Lilly, and CPI. His contributions to the field were also highlighted by his active participation on the boards of ONWARD Medical, Molnlycke Health Care, Middle Peak Medical GmbH and BeneChill.

Mr. Colen's academic background laid a strong foundation for his successful career. He earned a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from a Technical University in the Netherlands in 1974 and an US equivalent of a Master of Science in electrical engineering with specialization in biomedical technology from RWTH Aachen University in 1977. Mr. Colen's education gave him the technical knowledge and skills necessary to excel in his field.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Mr. Colen has been actively involved in professional and civic-minded organizations, such as MedTech Association Europe. He has also volunteered for and sponsored a program providing housing for women in need in the Twin Cities and is a financial supporter of initiatives aiding people and animals in need. Moreover, Mr. Colen enjoys singing in local choirs, including being a member of choirs in Minnesota and Florida. He has notably performed at prestigious venues, such as the Basilica of Saint Mary, Orchestra Hall in Minnesota, and participated in events together with the Minnesota Orchestra and with members of the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra.
