Dr. Davis, a distinguished expert in biomechanics, has dedicated 55 years to her profession, culminating in a remarkable career that spans various roles and achievements. Her most recent position was as a managing scientist at Exponent Inc from 2010 to 2023. From 2000 to 2010 she held a similar position with Vector Scientific in Los Angeles. In this role, she made significant contributions to the understanding of impact biomechanics, particularly in the context of automobile accidents. Her work has been instrumental in advancing knowledge about how the human body responds to different levels of impact, a field she finds both challenging and rewarding. During her tenure at Exponent, in 2014, she transitioned to her authentic self and continued a successful and productive consulting career until 2024, when she officially retired.

Prior to her tenure at Vector Scientific, Dr. Davis spent 25 years as a college professor at the University of Ottawa, University of California San Diego and the University of Toronto, where she performed research and shared her extensive knowledge and passion for biomechanics with students. She also served as the Academic Dean of the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College. Her academic career was marked by her ability to inspire future generations of scientists and researchers. Before entering academia, she taught at the high school level, where she laid the foundation for her teaching philosophy and honed her skills in education.

Dr. Davis also served as a consultant to sporting teams, including the Canadian Figure Skating Association and the Canadian Alpine Ski Team. Her work involved analyzing athletes' techniques through filming and testing, providing valuable insights to coaches for performance improvement. Her innovative use of wind tunnels with the ski team exemplifies her commitment to applying scientific principles to enhance athletic performance.

Dr. Davis' educational background is impressive and has been pivotal in her professional success. She earned a Doctorate in biomechanics of human movement from Penn State University in 1979, following a master's degree in exercise physiology from the University of Montana in 1971 and a Bachelor of Physical and Health Education from the University of Toronto in 1968. Additionally, she held certification as a certified forensic consultant from the American College of Forensic Examiners Institute prior to her retirement.

Her personal life is deeply influenced by her family and faith. Dr. Davis attributes much of her success to the love and support of her children, siblings and parents. As a proud Christian, she believes that her faith has taught her to be loving, compassionate, open-minded and respectful toward others, qualities that have guided her throughout her career.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Dr. Davis is actively involved in civic organizations. She serves on the board of PFLAG in Manhattan Beach and is a past executive director of and current singer with the Trans Chorus of Los Angeles. Additionally, she is a member of the Los Angeles LGBT Center and a donor to the American Civil Liberties Union. Her contributions have been recognized with a West Hollywood Certificate of Recognition.

Dr. Davis has in the past and continues to enjoy a rich personal life filled with activities such as singing, playing hockey, biking, spending time with family and traveling. She takes pride in her four children, who have each explored rewarding careers in education, medicine, aviation and restaurant ownership. Looking ahead, Dr. Davis plans to continue working with PFLAG and the LGBT Center to raise awareness on important issues close to her heart.
