Mr. Champ is a distinguished legal professional with a career spanning more than 17 years, specializing in real estate law, civil litigation and community association representation. As the general counsel for the Reston Association since 2018, he serves as the principal legal advisor for one of the largest community organizations in America, a master homeowners association with 65,000 members representing 21,000 households. In this role, he acts as the Association's primary legal counsel by providing governance advice and interpretation, daily legal advice and oversight of outside counsel. He also collaborates closely with the chief executive officer, handles contract negotiations and oversees employee relations and labor issues. Of all his accomplishments, Mr. Champ is most proud of his dedication to providing legal guidance that helps individuals enjoy their homes and contributes to the establishment of their communities.

Before joining the Reston Association, Mr. Champ held several roles at Kass, Mitek and Kass PLLC from 2011 to 2018 as a partner and associate attorney. His work heavily involved civil litigation, representing community associations and handling general real estate litigation, torts and contract actions. He began his legal career as an associate attorney at the Metropolitan Law Group from 2007 to 2011, where he dealt primarily with civil litigation, criminal law, family law and bankruptcy.

Mr. Champ's educational background includes a Juris Doctor from Thomas Jefferson School of Law in 2006 and a Bachelor of Science in public administration from George Mason University in 2003. He attributes much of his success to his adaptability and willingness to learn, as well as the mentorship he received from influential figures like Mark Mitek. Additionally, the support of his family has been instrumental in motivating him to explore new opportunities and strive for excellence.

Mr. Champ has been recognized for his contributions to the field with the Rising Star Award from Super Lawyers and is actively involved with the Washington Metropolitan Chapter of the Community Associations Institute. Outside of his professional life, he contributes to civic-minded organizations, such as his local church.

In his personal life, Mr. Champ enjoys skiing, hiking, outdoor activities, traveling and cooking. Looking ahead, he is dedicated to helping the Reston Association grow. He also seeks to become more involved with the Community Associations Institute and dedicate more time to volunteer work.
