During his tenure at Family Strategies Counseling Center from 2000 to 2024, Dr. Godfrey was instrumental in developing programs such as the SABR Program and Valor Groups, which have been successful in addressing sexual addiction and challenges related to pornography among adults and youth. His extensive career also included his development of two non-profit organizations (HOPE, and the Healing & Recovery Foundation), both of which provide financial support and programming for at-risk populations. He previously worked as an approved supervisor with the Board of Behavioral Health, an approved Sex Addiction Therapist Supervisor with IITAP, and as a Youth Services Supervisor with Tempe Social Services, assisting school-aged children and their families. He also served for five years as a member of the Education Board with Canyon State Academy, a residential school for at-risk youth. Moreover, he garnered success in various mental health settings and taught as an adjunct professor at Grand Canyon University. Dr. Godfrey's expertise in human sexuality, sexual abuse, sex offender work, sexual addiction work, sex education and sex therapy has been pivotal to his success and longevity in the industry. His most notable research has revolved around the topic of "sexualized attachments."

Dr. Godfrey received a bachelor's degree in psychology from Arizona State University in 1994, a master's degree in professional counseling from Ottawa University in 2000 and a Doctor of Philosophy in Clinical Sexology from the International Institute for Clinical Sexology in 2021. His credentials as a Certified Sex Addiction Specialist Supervisor, Certified Christian Counselor, and Certified Mental Health Coach have equipped him with the skills necessary to address complex issues related to human sexuality.

Adding to his expertise, Dr. Godfrey remains committed to advancing knowledge in his field through membership in several professional organizations, such as the American Association of Christian Counselors, the Society for the Advancement of Sexual Health, the Association of Christians in Health and Human Services, the International Foundation for Therapeutic and Counselling Choice, and the LifeStar Network.

In addition to his professional endeavors, Dr. Godfrey is actively involved in civic-minded organizations, such as The Hope Foundation, United Families International, Family Watch International and his local church. He is a published author with his recent release of "Healing & Recovery: Perspective for Young Men with Sexualized Attachments" in 2022. This book addresses issues of sexual confusion and guides young men seeking clarity and understanding.
