Before establishing Waddey Acheson, she worked at Waller LLP, Neal & Harwell, and Ogborn Summerlin & Ogborn.
Ms. Acheson served as an officer in the United States Marine Corps from 2005 to 2011 after graduating law school. In this capacity, she served as a Prosecutor, Ethics Advisor to the Commanding General, and as Company Commander to over 400 Marines, sailors and civilians aboard MCRD Parris Island. Ms. Acheson cites her time as Company Commander of Marines as one of her most meaningful professional achievements thus far.
Ms. Acheson holds a Bachelor of Science in political science from the University of Colorado and received her Juris Doctorate from Harvard Law School in 2004. She completed coursework in international relations at the University of Sussex in Brighton, England.
Ms. Acheson remains deeply committed to civic engagement. She considers her work with the Swan Ball and SB Initiative, Inc. as a significant recent professional accomplishment. She currently serves as General Counsel for the SBI board, an assembly recognized as a prominent representation of leadership in the mid-South region. Active involvement with Safer Tennessee is also important to Ms. Acheson, who also contributes to the Member Care Committee at her church.
Ms. Acheson credits her father's example as positively impacting her life, noting that he exemplified integrity, honesty, and compassion. Ms. Acheson credits her mother with teaching her to look for the beauty and magic in all things. Ms. Acheson also values the inspiring support of her exceptional female friends and chosen family, each making significant contributions to the world in their unique ways, without whom she would not be where she is today.
In her personal time, Ms. Acheson values living and traveling internationally with her husband, learning about new parts of the world, spending time with her sons, and reading. Ms. Acheson credits living internationally as a shaping force and deeply values the cultural experiences of exploring different parts of the world- especially a very special village and its people in the North of Scotland.
