BROOKLYN, NY, February 28, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Joseph Humann has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Mr. Humann is an accomplished expert in architectural conservation and preservation of existing buildings throughout New York City, with a distinguished career spanning several decades. He currently serves as adjunct faculty at New York City College of Technology (CUNY City Tech), a position he has held since 2010. In this role, he is dedicated to his courses in the History of Architecture in New York City, as well as Details and Building Technology of Existing Buildings. His commitment to education and his students is evident in his comprehensive and detailed lectures, as well as the long-term relationships he maintains with his students after they graduate and enter into the professional world of architecture.

Mr. Humann's professional journey began in New York City as a painter and plasterer with JTH Restoration Inc., where he founded and served as principal from 1995 to 2001. His career progressed as he became a Project Associate at RAND Engineering & Architecture DPC from 2001 to 2006. He then joined Flag Waterproofing & Restoration as a Project Manager for the following four years. Joseph also established Preservation Consultants Inc., serving as principal of the consulting firm from 2010 to 2018. His expertise expanded even further through his role as Vice President of Traditional Waterproofing & Restoration Inc. Currently, Mr. Humann is founding principal of Preservation Consultants NYC, a consulting company in the exterior restoration and preservation industry. www.preservationconsultantsnyc.com

Mr. Humann takes great pride in contributing to notable restoration and preservation projects such as the preservation of the 1870's cast iron façade building at 54 Bond Street, exterior façade restoration at 45 Rockefeller Center, as well as many other historic buildings within New York City. Of all his achievements, he is most proud of his journey from craftsman to consultant in the field of architectural conservation. In 2018, he was on the preservation team that received the prestigious Lucy G. Moses Preservation Award from the New York Landmarks Conservancy for his work in architectural conservation on the cast iron façade of 54 Bond Street.

Throughout his career, Mr. Humann has been actively involved in numerous industry-related organizations. His memberships include The General Society of Mechanics & Tradesmen of the City of New York, the Construction History Society of America, Friends of Terra Cotta, the Society for Industrial Archeology and NCARB.

Mr. Humann's educational background has been instrumental in shaping his career. He holds a Master of Science in Architectural Conservation from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, completed in 2005. Prior to that, he attended the RESTORE Architectural Conservation Laboratory Workshop on Historic Mortars at the University of Pennsylvania in 2002. His academic journey began with an Associate of Applied Science in Studio Art from SUNY Rockland in 1990 and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Stony Brook University in 1995.

In addition to his professional achievements, Mr. Humann has made significant contributions through civic involvement and creative pursuits. He has volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, and beyond his architectural endeavors, Mr. Humann is also a musician and band member with the roots-rock, Brooklyn-based band, American Nomads. www.americannomadsband.com

Reflecting on his life, Mr. Humann attributes much of his success to his parents, particularly his father, who modeled a strong work ethic while simultaneously working, attending college and raising three children. He also credits his mother for her strong love of the arts and literature, as well as his brother, a neo-conceptual artist, for supplying creative support and encouragement for his endeavors.

Mr. Humann subscribes to an ideological construct that he calls the "Rule of Thirds": Work, Teach, and Create. Looking ahead, he aims to continue teaching with aspirations of becoming a full-time professor. He also desires to further the success of his band through projects like their upcoming documentary collaboration with musicians from Woodstock, NY. Additionally, he plans to continue with his consulting work and architectural conservation projects.
