WEST STOCKBRIDGE, MA, March 04, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- John Fülöp has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. Mr. Fülöp is a distinguished architect and owner of John Fülöp Associates, Architects and Planners, where he has dedicated 50 years to advancing zero-energy architecture. His expertise in sustainable design has been instrumental in shaping innovative projects prioritizing community needs and environmental sustainability. His career began in NYC with designing SOHO loft conversions from industrial to residential and artist studio spaces, public assembly venues and concert halls, where he honed his skills in managing complex architectural designs. This experience laid the foundation for his transition to more community-focused projects, including creating a plan for the Arts College of the proposed New York State University Campus at Buffalo.

Significant roles and contributions mark Mr. Fülöp's professional journey. His early work in NYC photography was presented in several "Avant Garde Festivals" around NYC as well as SOHO galleries. After a 1985 move to the Berkshires, in Massachusetts, he joined the board of the Community Land Trust of the Southern Berkshires where he has served as the board president from 2014-2024, advocating for sustainable land use and affordable housing. In 1981 he designed an Affordable Solar-Sustainable Tiny House, the "Little Big House" Project, which was published in Popular Science, reflecting his commitment to eco-friendly living solutions. Additionally, he was a member of the West Stockbridge Sustainability Committee in 2012 and, began a Masters swimming program which he started and coached in 1988 and later at Simon's Rock College's Kilpatrick Athletic Center from 2002 to 2010.

Mr. Fülöp's academic background includes a Master of Architecture from Yale University, completed in 1968. During this time, he collaborated with Ivan Chermayeff and Alexander Tzonis on the book "Shape of Community," which explored the relationship between architecture and community design. Additionally, he holds a Bachelor of Science in architecture and engineering from the CUNY City College of New York, which he earned in 1965. His education provided a strong foundation for his architectural career, enabling him to excel in large-scale projects and community-oriented designs. He is a registered architect in Massachusetts, New York, and Connecticut and holds certification from the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards. Throughout his career, Mr. Fülöp has received numerous accolades, including the Arnold W. Brunner Scholarship Award from The Architectural League of New York in 1970 and the Koppers prize from Yale University in 1967.

Mr. Fülöp, a passionate student of the piano, was taught by his mother who studied with Bartok and Rachmaninoff at the Franz Liszt Academy in Budapest, his early career includes co-founding the South County Music School in 1995, where he served as volunteer interim director until 2000. In NYC, he also held such positions as the Singer Studio Co­ Op Board president from 2003 to 2008 and president of the regional Metro Masters Swimming Club. He also coached at the Manhattan Plaza Swim and Health Club from 1979 to 1988. His work with Engineers Ambrosino and DePinto on energy conservation projects for various NY Metropolitan Area Colleges from 1980 to 1989 further underscores his dedication to sustainable practices.

Throughout his career, Mr. Fülöp has received numerous accolades, including the Arnold W. Brunner Scholarship Award from The Architectural League of New York in 1970 and the Koppers Prize from Yale University in 1967. He also earned an honorable mention in the PPG Competition at Yale University and in 1966 was awarded the Grey Knight Varsity Award as co-captain of the swimming team at Queens College in 1963. His passion for swimming has led him to win multiple national championship titles with the U.S. Masters Swimming Association. Although his career has been filled with numerous highlights, Mr. Fülöp is proud of completing projects for individuals in need. This work is significant to him because he came to the U.S. as a refugee.

Outside his professional life, Mr. Fülöp is deeply committed to his community and family. He enjoys swimming, particularly the butterfly stroke, and continues to participate in competitions. As a father of two children, he values family engagement and aims to make a lasting impact through local initiatives such as music education and community centers. At age 84, Mr. Fülöp remains dedicated to completing an affordable co-housing project that combined with a farming enterprise fosters community engagement and sustainability while addressing the Berkshires diversity needs.
