Dr. Dooley has built a distinguished career in higher education, characterized by her transformative leadership and commitment to student success, effective teaching, and advocacy for access and equitable outcomes for everyone. She is a professor at the University of Central Florida, where she has been a faculty member since 2015. Dr. Dooley's expertise in special education teacher preparation and enterprise-level leadership is widely acknowledged. Additionally, she is dedicated to equipping educators with an understanding of legislative accountability and its connection to adopting an equity mindset.

Before assuming her current role, Dr. Dooley held multiple senior leadership positions at the University of Central Florida (UCF), including provost and vice president of academic affairs from 2018 to 2020, as well as vice provost for teaching and learning and dean of the College of Undergraduate Studies from 2015 to 2018.

Before her tenure at UCF, she significantly contributed to developing strong academic and student success programs at West Virginia University. There, she served as the founding dean of University College from 2013 to 2015 and as associate provost for undergraduate academic affairs from 2009 to 2015. Her leadership roles at West Virginia University also included serving as interim dean of the College of Education and Human Services from 2011 to 2012 and as department chair from 1999 to 2009. She co-founded the Health Sciences & Technology Academy, directing campus programs from 1994 to 2009 and significantly influencing the interest of over 2,500 high school students in pursuing higher education. Dr. Dooley's academic career began with an assistant professorship at Northeastern Illinois University in 1989, a position she held until 1991 before joining West Virginia University as an assistant professor that same year.

By 1997, Dr. Dooley was promoted to associate professor and achieved full professorship in 2005. Throughout her tenure at West Virginia University and the University of Central Florida, her dedication to faculty and student success, along with her efforts to foster a supportive and engaged academic community, was evident through numerous initiatives that brought transformative changes to both institutions.

In recognition of her contributions, she has received several awards, such as the Diverse Celebrating Leading Women in Higher Education award (which honors 40 women making a difference in academia) in 2024, the BFSA Outstanding Faculty Award in 2024, the Florida Women on the Move Award from Onyx Magazine in 2019, her induction into the Hall of Fame as a Distinguished Alumna by West Virginia University's College of Education and Human Services in 2018, recognition from the West Virginia Human Rights Commission as an Honoree for Advancing Civil Rights through Education and Human Resources in 2015 and the Marion County Humanities Award (Music and Creativity) in 2009.

Dr. Dooley's educational background has laid a strong foundation for her career in academia and her many accomplishments. She holds a Doctor of Education in special education and education administration from West Virginia University, a master's degree in special education from the same university, and a bachelor's degree in elementary and special education from Alderson Broaddus University. Influenced by her family's advocacy for civil rights during her upbringing in Fairmont, West Virginia, Dr. Dooley credits her success to her supportive parents, Fred and Juanita Dooley, her siblings, friends, and her own resilience and self-actualization. Her fulfilling career has allowed her to focus on what truly matters, leading to transformative and meaningful experiences for tens of thousands of students and several hundred faculty members throughout her journey.

In addition to her professional achievements, she actively participates in civic organizations. Her community involvement has secured grant funding for local programs and has initiated fundraising efforts through her church, where she served as a music minister and assumed leadership roles. As a mother to one daughter, and aunt of nieces, she is committed to inspiring women to pursue fulfilling careers, mentoring faculty members and students while empowering the next generation of scholars with the essential tools to navigate the complexities of higher education while focusing on their potential and future opportunities.
