Mr. Gordy, an accomplished author, has built a distinguished career in fiction and technical writing spanning more than four decades. He currently serves as the president of BLS Aiken LLC, a role he has held since 2006. In this capacity, he has demonstrated his prowess as a fiction writer, self-publishing books through CreateSpace and Kindle Direct Publishing. His involvement with the Lifelong Learning Program at the University of South Carolina Aiken further showcases his commitment to education and personal growth. In addition to this role, he was an adjunct instructor at Piedmont Technical College from 2010 to 2016, where he balanced teaching with generating revenue through his company.

From 1990 to 2005, Mr. Gordy was a principal engineering and technical support specialist at Westinghouse Savannah River Company. During this time, he made significant contributions to the operations training program, which became the first within the nuclear weapons complex to receive accreditation from the United States Department of Energy. Earlier in his career, he served as manager of professional development at ASQ from 1985 to 1988 and as a senior quality assurance specialist at Public Service Indiana from 1980 to 1984.

Mr. Gordy's academic background laid a strong foundation for his expertise. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in modern history from the University of Florida in 1971, followed by a Master of Philosophy in modern history from Yale University in 1974. He attributes his success to the unwavering support and high expectations set by his parents, particularly his father, who encouraged him to be an achiever. He also credits his wife for her motivation and their mutual support throughout their careers and community involvement.

Mr. Gordy's literary accomplishments are notable, with several awards recognizing his talent. He received first place in the nonfiction writing competition from the Union County Writers Club in North Carolina in 2014 and won the Carrie McCray Literary Award from the South Carolina Writers' Workshop in 2013. His numerous published works include "Tangled Woods and Dark Waters" in 2017, "Nights of Horseplay: Equine Fantasies From South Carolina's Thoroughbred Country" in 2013 and "Private Horrors" in 2009.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Mr. Gordy is deeply involved in civic activities. He has been associated with Kairos Prison Ministry International since 1995 and served as chairman of the South Carolina State Chapter Committee from 2015 to 2017, overseeing operations in 13 correctional institutions. His commitment to community service extends to volunteering at soup kitchens and ministries for the homeless.

Outside of his professional life, Mr. Gordy enjoys writing, nature hiking, traveling and actively participating in lifelong learning activities. Looking ahead, he remains committed to continuing his writing pursuits and contributing positively to his community.
