Mr. Beehler has been the president of the eponymous Alex A. Beehler & Co., LLC, since 2009. His expertise extends to writing and speaking engagements, where he shares his insights on these critical areas. Before his current role, Mr. Beehler served as a senior advisor at FaegreBD Consulting from 2010 to 2015. His career includes significant experience within the United States Department of Defense (DoD), where he worked in the Office of Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Installations and Environment from 2004 to 2009, and where he was appointed the first chief sustainability officer of DoD.

Mr. Beehler's professional journey is marked by his tenure as assistant secretary of the army for installations, energy and environment from 2019 to 2021. During this time, he demonstrated a profound commitment to supporting military personnel and their families, an endeavor he finds deeply honorable. His office was located at the Pentagon during the tragic events of September 11, 2001, which left a lasting impact on him. He often reflects on the memorial dedicated to those who lost their lives that day as a source of inspiration.

In addition to his roles in government and consulting, Mr. Beehler has contributed to academia as an instructor at George Washington University (GWU) National Law Center from 1993 to 1995, where he taught a course on public law and policy titled "Superfund Settlement", and then as a visiting professor at GWU's Environmental & Energy Management Institute from 2015. His academic background includes a Juris Doctor and Bachelor of Laws from the University of Virginia School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts from Princeton School of Public and International Affairs.

Mr. Beehler's dedication extends beyond his professional endeavors into civic engagement. He has served as a board member for several organizations, including Land Conservation Assistance Network, Imagine Schools, The Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay, and the Woodrow Wilson House National Trust Property. His involvement with the National Environmental Education Foundation's executive committee and strategic planning from 2004 to 2009 further underscores his commitment to environmental education. Further, Mr. Beehler has also served in a variety of Princeton University Alumni leadership capacities.

Throughout his career, Mr. Beehler has been recognized for his contributions with awards such as the Army Superior Public Service Award in 2019, Distinguished Public Service Award in 2021, and the Medal for Exceptional Public Service from the U.S. Department of Defense in 2009. He has authored several publications, including "Published Army Installation Strategy" in The Army Installation Strategy. Similarly, he co-authored articles in National Defense Magazine and Environmental Forum.

Born in Baltimore, Mr. Beehler enjoys a rich personal life filled with interests such as baseball, history, reading biographies and books on historical events, traveling with his family, teaching, gardening, writing poetry and exercising. He cherishes time spent swimming during summertime. Additionally, he is committed to sharing an inspirational narrative written by a friend who passed away from pancreatic cancer, aiming to honor his friend's legacy and inspire others through this story. Mr. Beehler has also been actively involved in political processes as an election judge and campaign volunteer for various candidates. He believes strongly in the importance of civic engagement and values contributing to democratic processes through these roles.
