Since 2006, Mr. Oevrevik has also served as the director of development for Better Globe AS. In this role, he has been instrumental in advancing the mission to combat poverty and environmental degradation through tree planting and community empowerment in East Africa. His efforts have supported sustainable forestry projects to combat poverty and climate change. From 2015 to 2025, he was also the director of development for Trees4CO2 AS in Norway, where he advocated for carbon offset initiatives through sustainable reforestation.
In 2012, Mr. Oevrevik founded Better Globe Media, further showcasing his expertise in web development and content strategy. His career is marked by a dedication to helping others and teaching people, which has always been close to his heart. His achievements in Africa, where he has helped numerous partner farmers and children, are a testament to his commitment to making a positive impact.
Mr. Oevrevik's work has been recognized with numerous international accolades, including being named Photographer of the Year by the 1839 Awards in 2024 and Discovery of the Year by the reFocus Awards in 2022. He has received over 200 awards throughout his career. Mr. Oevrevik's educational background includes coursework in web development, web project management, graphic design and adult pedagogy at the University of Bergen in 2000. He earned a bachelor's degree from the Norwegian Business School in Oslo in 1992. He attributes his success to the values instilled by his parents, who taught him the importance of hard work without expecting anything in return. Inspired by friends who excelled academically during his school years, he has always strived to do his best.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Mr. Oevrevik is actively involved in civic associations. Since 2003, he has sponsored local children and supported Child Africa in Uganda. He contributes a percentage of his print revenue to Teen Challenge to support their addiction recovery programs and supports the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust and Pet Alliance.
Born in Norway, Mr. Oevrevik enjoys skating, football, swimming and martial arts outside of his career pursuits. He also appreciates exploring new photography techniques, reading about photography and environmental sustainability, and traveling with a focus on capturing diverse cultures and landscapes through photography. Looking ahead, he plans to be featured in National Geographic with a special image series that captures unique aspects of the natural and human world. Beyond personal achievements, he is dedicated to producing a documentary in cooperation with National Geographic. This project will highlight the impactful work being done in East Africa, focusing on tree-planting efforts and their contribution to climate renewal.
