Dr. Kudo has established a distinguished career in academia. As a tenured professor of accounting and chair of the business and cyber division at the University of Hawaii - West Oahu, he has been instrumental in shaping the academic landscape since 2006. His daily routine involves teaching, mentoring students, and managing the academic programs of his division, while ensuring the success of his faculty. Additionally, Dr. Kudo is recognized for his dual role as the chair, chief executive officer, and managing partner at New City Nissan and Rosebridge LLC since 1998, highlighting his unique position as the only automotive dealer in the U.S. who is also a full professor at an accredited university. New City Nissan has won numerous awards of excellence from Nissan USA including the Global and Circle of Excellence Awards.

Dr. Kudo's diverse career began as a senior accountant at KPMG, Peat, Marwick CPAs (formerly Peat, Marwick Mitchell & Co. CPA's) in Honolulu from 1974 to 1978. He then served as a senior vice president and controller at Aloha Motors Inc. until 1983, followed by a brief tenure as the president of Virtual Management Services Inc. He also held leadership roles at Mazda Hawaii Inc. and the Tony Management Group before becoming the vice president of strategy and the general manager of the leasing company at Shelly Motors Inc. between 1992 and 1997.

In preparation for his future, Dr. Kudo received a Bachelor of Science in accounting from the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado Boulder in 1972, followed by a Master of Business Administration in accounting from the Foster School of Business at the University of Washington in 1974. Inspired by his twin brother's pursuit of higher education, Mr. Kudo earned a Doctor of Business Administration from Case Western Reserve University, Weatherhead School of Management in 2006.

In addition to his professional roles, Dr. Kudo is actively engaged with several industry-related organizations, including the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), where he holds multiple certifications, such as accreditation in business valuation and certified in financial forensics. He is also the current president and board member of the Hawaii Society of Certified Public Accountants. Additionally, he has served as a member of the Hawaii Automobile Dealers Association and the Hawaii Executive Council. Beyond his professional commitments, Dr. Kudo is deeply involved in civic activities. He has served as the vice president, board of directors and chair for the Hawaii Children's Museum and Discovery Center in 1989, and has held board positions with Hawaii Services on Deafness, Kuakini Medical Center and PASHA Hawaii Shipping.

Dr. Kudo's academic achievements were further enriched by his appointment as a visiting scholar in accounting and finance at the Tokyo Institute of Technology, Ookayama, Tokyo in 2018. He has also made significant contributions to academic literature with publications exploring topics like organizational cynicism and hope, and leadership development among adolescents through proper parenting typologies.

In 2017, Dr. Kudo's educational contributions were recognized with awards such as the Distinguished Accounting Educator Award from the Hawaii Society of Certified Public Accountants. The University of Hawaii Board of Regents Excellence in Teaching Award, and the Kenneth E. Clark Research Award from the Center for Creative Leadership in North Carolina for his work on leadership development. He attributes his success to the values instilled by his father and the competitive spirit shared with his brother. These influences have motivated him to excel.
