Dr. Patil's journey began at Ford Motor Company in 1980, where he played a pivotal role in developing electric vehicle prototypes. As the chief engineer for hybrid technologies from 1998 to 2003, he led the development and launch of the Ford Escape Hybrid, which offered significantly improved fuel economy and was the first production hybrid vehicle from a North American vehicle manufacturer.

In 2005, Dr. Patil transitioned to LG Chem Power Inc., serving as the chief executive officer until 2015. During his tenure, he focused on advancing lithium-ion battery technology, contributing to the growth of LG's North American business. In 2016, he became a senior advisor for the organization, further solidifying his reputation as a leader in battery innovation.

Dr. Patil's academic background laid a strong foundation for his career achievements. He earned a Bachelor of Technology in aerospace, aeronautical and astronautical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in Mumbai in 1972. Subsequently, Dr. Patil attended the University of Michigan, earning a Master of Science in aerospace engineering and a Doctor of Philosophy in aerospace engineering. This robust academic training fueled his passion for contributing to the field.

Throughout his career, Dr. Patil has been recognized for his contributions to technology and engineering. He received the prestigious Henry Ford Technology Award and was honored by SAE International as an SAE Technical Fellow. These accolades underscore his commitment to innovation and excellence within the automotive industry.
