Before establishing Sung's Treats, Dr. Sung served as the director of operations at Vein360 in 2022. His role involved overseeing operational strategies and ensuring efficient shipping, production, and facility management processes. Prior to this, he was the director of site operations at PCI Pharma Services from 2021 to 2022, where he managed all site activities and contributed to operational excellence at a contract drug manufacturing operation.

From 2011 to 2021, Dr. Sung was the plant manager at Kao Collins. During this time, he was pivotal in addressing customer needs for leak-proof packaging solutions while managing a team of over 40 people in the QA/QC, maintenance, EH&S, procurement, security, and engineering departments. He successfully developed a leak-proof package that significantly improved product quality and durability by collaborating with fitment, pouch, and carton suppliers as well as exploring innovative designs.

Dr. Sung's earlier career includes roles such as the science and engineering manager at BCS Incorporated from 2010 to 2011 and technical and commercial development manager at Collins Inkjet Corporation from 2009 to 2010. He also served as a technical development manager at Hexion Specialty Chemicals from 2004 to 2009 and as a senior research engineer at Gerber Scientific Products from 1998 to 2004, where he developed the company's first ultraviolet-curable inkjet printer with a team of engineers.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Dr. Sung is a member of industry-related organizations, such as the American Institute of Chemical Engineers and the American Chemical Society. He completed his Six Sigma green belt certification at Hexion Specialty Chemicals. Also, Sung's Treats was named a finalist in the 2024 Cincinnati's Best Community's Choice Award for the Novelty Treat category, further underscoring his dedication to excellence.

Dr. Sung's academic background laid a strong foundation for his career achievements. He earned a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Connecticut in 1997, a Master of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Purdue University in 1992, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from The Johns Hopkins University in 1990.

Beyond his professional life, Dr. Sung is actively involved in civic-minded organizations and volunteers at Reach Out Lakota, a local food bank. He is married and is a devoted father to his four children.
