Mrs. Martin-Meurer's commitment to education is further exemplified by her previous positions as a lecturer and associate lecturer at the same university from 2020 to 2005 and as an instructor for Pre-College and Continuing Education at the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design concurrently from 2007 to 2009. Additionally, she has served as recruitment outreach coordinator for Art and Design at UWM since 2006.
In addition to her academic roles, Mrs. Martin-Meurer has been a public artist with kathryn e. martin LLC since 2007. Her work in this capacity includes contributions to several notable public projects, such as Transformation, for the Baird Center in 2024, Ellipsoid at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2010, and A Place to Sit on the Hank Aaron State Trail, made possible by The Friends of Hank Aaron State Trail.
Mrs. Martin-Meurer's professional journey is marked by numerous accolades and memberships in industry-related organizations. She is a member of the Milwaukee Artist Resource Network and serves as a consultant for AP Art and Design with the College Board. Her dedication to teaching excellence has been recognized with the Outstanding Teacher of the Year Award and the Distinguished Community Engaged Faculty of the Year Award from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
Academically, Mrs. Martin-Meurer earned a Master of Fine Arts in intermedia and multimedia from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 2007, following a Master of Arts in intermedia and multimedia from the same institution in 2005. Her commitment to stability and growth within one institution is inspired by her father's lifelong dedication to his job despite changes in ownership. This steadfastness has allowed Mrs. Martin-Meurer to cultivate deep roots within her community and provide consistent support to her students.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Mrs. Martin-Meurer is actively involved in civic-minded organizations, volunteering with the American Red Cross and arts-focused nonprofits. Her contributions have earned her several awards, including a residency with ARTServancy and recognition as an Alumni Employee Award recipient for community engagement, along with several scholarships and grants.
In her personal life, Mrs. Martin-Meurer enjoys reading, writing, skiing, walking and spending time with her two children. Looking ahead, she aims to secure tenured status at her university while continuing to develop curricula that empower students at both college and high school levels. She is also committed to fostering community conversation and creativity by meeting students where they are and helping them discover what they care about most. Through these efforts, she strives to equip students with the tools needed to confidently navigate their futures in an ever-changing world.
