Ms. Price has established a distinguished career as the owner, chief officer and safety director of Custom Installers of Colorado LLC, originally based in Denver but now in Windsor. Since the company's founding in 1985, she has managed financial operations, including bookkeeping, annual taxes and tax assessments. Additionally, she forecasts the company's financial and product development by building estimating software, keeping longevity and safety in mind. Ms. Price oversees company operations and visits job sites to ensure quality and safety standards are met. She also supports the education of employees and guides them to be the best commercial millwork installers.
Ms. Price's commitment to safety is further evidenced by her involvement with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), where she serves as a safety program director for herself and her students. She is the owner and creator of CI Woodworkers of America, a private commercial millwork school that she established in Colorado in 2016. This company, which is an approved OSHA training school for commercial finish carpentry, shows Ms. Price's steadfast commitment to OSHA training in the commercial millwork industry. She was licensed by the University of Southern Florida to serve as the safety director at the school, where she has successfully overseen several four-year student apprenticeships, educated over 100 students and employees and completed over 9500 projects.
Ms. Price's early career included working as a desk clerk at various big chain hotels, where she gained valuable experience in hospitality management. She also held several sales manager roles, drawing on her education in sales, marketing and business concepts to help others and protect the interests of small businesses. Her dedication to business excellence is reflected in her active participation in industry-related entities such as the National Small Business Association (NSBA), where she serves on the leadership council for the organization's environmental, economic and tax committees. Ms. Price is celebrating 15 years of service as a business leader with the NSBA.
Ms. Price earned a Master of Business Administration with an emphasis on small business finance and a minor in financial management services from Westwood College-Denver North. She was included on the president's list for every quarter attended. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in finance with a minor in small business management from the School for Professional Studies at Regis University's Lowell campus. There, she excelled in statistical mathematics, graduating with 100% efficiency. Ms. Price began her academic journey at Westwood College-Denver North, formerly the Denver Institute of Technology, where she received an Associate of Applied Science in hospitality service management. While studying for her associate degree, she was honored to receive the school's Peer Award in recognition of her support for other students. Finally, Ms. Price is an OSHA-accredited educational facilitator, having completed training through the University of South Florida.
Ms. Price's commitment to civic engagement is evident through her involvement with various organizations. She supports the American Red Cross and the AARP while actively participating in Colorado-based and national non-profit entities that promote safety and tax reform for small businesses across all industries. During the 2008-2012 Great Recession, Ms. Price supported small business owners by providing research and testimony at a Salida, Colorado courtroom hearing and bringing an understanding of how small businesses were affected by bank closures. She also wrote a proposal to Congress urging them to reform the income tax system to protect small businesses during recessions and banking crises. Ms. Price cites these experiences as her most notable accomplishments.
Ms. Price developed an interest in entrepreneurship when she took a business class in high school. When the teacher assigned the class to create a business, the young Ms. Price partnered with a classmate named Jack Price, and they developed a plan together. Later, the two would co-found Custom Installers LLC, with Ms. Price focusing on running the business and Mr. Price focusing on product management.
Ms. Price attributes her success to her dedication to listening to and helping those in need. Her personal philosophy emphasizes strength and support for others, guiding her professional and personal endeavors. She would also like to acknowledge her mentor, Thomas Foley, a dedicated instructor who cares about his students. Looking toward the future, Ms. Price aims to work with the AARP to advocate for tax reform for senior citizens.
