In addition to his role at Lake Forest Family Eye Care, Dr. Drey is the owner and an optometrist at Franklin Eye Care LLC, which he established in 2017. Prior to these roles, he served as an associate doctor of optometry at Eye Level Inc. from 2009 to 2016 and at Professional Eye Care Center from 2009 to 2015.

His most notable achievement is completing a postdoctoral residency in ocular disease in 2010, which significantly deepened his involvement in eye health and disease care.

Academically, Dr. Drey earned a Bachelor of Arts in biology from the University of Iowa in 2005 and a Doctor of Optometry at the Illinois College of Optometry in 2009. Along with his education, he attributes much of his success to the work ethic instilled by his father, a former farmer turned successful construction business owner.

Dr. Drey's personal experiences have also significantly shaped his career path. Diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of five, he has lived with the condition for nearly 40 years. His personal journey inspired his pursuit of a career in eye care, particularly given diabetes' impact on vision health. He is now actively involved with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, reflecting his ongoing commitment to supporting others affected by the condition.

In his personal life, Dr. Drey enjoys golfing, coaching basketball and spending time with his two daughters, often taking them to live sporting events. Looking to the future with determination, he intends to expand his team at both Lake Forest Family Eye Care and Franklin Eye Care LLC.
