Mr. Small has built a distinguished career in law, trust administration and wealth management, currently serving as trust counsel and managing director at Fiduciary Trust Company International of Pennsylvania. With over 35 years of experience, he provides expertise and guidance to the company in Radnor, Pennsylvania, and is an active member of the regional management team. He conducts legal reviews, ensures document accessibility, and drafts materials concerning various trust administration matters. Additionally, Mr. Small modifies or terminates trusts as necessary and serves as the Pennsylvania office's resident expert on fiduciary matters.

Before joining his organization, Mr. Small was a senior vice president at Wells Fargo from 2012 to 2023, where he managed individual fiduciary advisors and profit and loss statements while overseeing large fiduciary businesses. Before that, he was a first vice president at BNY Mellon Wealth Management between 1997 and 2012. During his tenure at Mellon Bank, Mr. Small played a pivotal role in advocating for the families of foreign victims killed on September 11, 2001. His efforts secured approximately $26 million in compensation for 12 families, earning Mellon Bank an award from the New York State Bar Association in 2004.

Mr. Small's legal career began as an associate at K&L Gates from 1987 to 1996, where he engaged in various areas of law including approximately 18 guardianships arising from the largest mass child abuse prosecution in U.S. history. He subsequently served as a senior associate at Blank Rome LLP until 1997. Mr. Small's educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in classical languages and literature, cum laude, from the University of Michigan, in 1982 and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Florida, cum laude, in 1987.

Throughout his career, Mr. Small has been actively involved with industry-related organizations, such as the Philadelphia Estate Planning Council, the Philadelphia Bar Association and the Florida Law Review. He also served as an elected at-large member of the Philadelphia Bar Association from 2021 to 2023 and has held various leadership roles within the organization. Moreover, Mr. Small has also contributed to publications such as ThinkAdvisor and The International Family Offices Journal.

Beyond his professional life, Mr. Small is civically engaged. He served as president of the Philadelphia Estate Planning Council in 2010 and was involved with The Sewickley Presbyterian Church as an elder and Sunday school teacher.

Mr. Small's dedication to hard work and attention to detail have been instrumental in his success. Influenced by his grandfather, who practiced law for over 60 years, he pursued a career in law after discovering his passion for it through music and stage performances.
