He also serves as one of the head coaches of the GCC Cybersecurity Club. His expertise is further recognized through his consulting work with major firms, government entities and legal professionals, wherein he provides guidance on databases, penetration testing, network architecture and web development as a full-stack developer.
Before his current role, Mr. Adams served as a faculty member at Harvard University from 2015 to 2017, contributing to the academic community with his insights into database management and data science in their graduate program. His tenure as an IT developer and webmaster for the Department of Homeland Security's United States Coast Guard from 2008 to 2019 at the National Maritime Center highlights his practical experience in the field.
Mr. Adams was an associate professor in cybersecurity at the University of Maryland Global Campus, formerly the University of Maryland University College, from 2004 to 2010 and an assistant professor in computer and information science at Shepherd College from 1998 to 2005. His career began with LA Web Solutions LLC in 1983, where he continues to provide IT cybersecurity consultancy services.
Mr. Adams's nine-year military service as a recon scout and TOW gunner with the United States Army 29th Light Infantry, Virginia Army National Guard from 1982 to 1991 laid the foundation for his disciplined approach to cybersecurity. His contributions have been recognized with several accolades, including the Points of Light Award from President Bush and the Army Achievement Award from the United States Army. He has also been honored in the Hall of Fame Driver at Shriners Children's Philadelphia for providing transportation to children with medical needs.
A member of prestigious organizations such as the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and the Association for Computing Machinery, Mr. Adams remains actively engaged with industry developments. His commitment to professional growth is evident through his involvement with the Open Worldwide Application Security Project and his volunteer work with organizations like Worldwide Widows Sons and Freemasons in Louisiana and Virginia.
Mr. Adams's educational background is extensive. In 2015, he earned a Master of Arts in information technology, education, and instructional media design from Harvard University. He also holds an advanced administrative leadership and instructional technology degree from Shenandoah University, a Master of Science in computers, a Master of Business Administration, and a Bachelor of Science in political science, government and economics from Shepherd College. His academic achievements have been instrumental in shaping his successful career.
Beyond his professional life, Mr. Adams was born in Winchester and shares his life with his spouse, Barbara, and their son, Eric. He enjoys traveling and motorcycling during his leisure time.
