Ms. Bell's career in this sector began with an internship as a forensic accountant at the Syracuse Police Department in the Criminal Investigations Division, Financial Crimes Section, and Fraud Unit during 2003. She then served as a senior forensic accountant at Grant Thornton in the Forensic Accounting and Investigative Services (FAIS) group from 2004 to 2006. Following this role, she became a senior forensic auditor at Delhaize Group responsible for leading the architecture and implementation of their global anti-fraud program between 2006 and 2010. Ms. Bell's expertise expanded as the global forensic audit manager at FINCA International as the fraud head designing and implementing their fraud risk management program in 22 countries from 2012 to 2014.
Apart from her work at her organization, Ms. Bell has been an adjunct instructor of Financial Crime & Compliance Management (FCM) graduate program in the College of Business & Justice Studies at Utica University since 2018. In addition to her primary positions, she held advisory roles, including serving on the advisory board of Real Random LLC from 2021 to 2023. Ms. Bell has also been active as an author and speaker, contributing significantly to her field through various keynote addresses, training and publications.
Ms. Bell's academic achievements include an Associate of Applied Science degrees in both accounting and business administration, summa cum laude, from Southwestern in 2002, a Bachelor of Science in applied economics and management from Cornell University in 2004, and a Master of Science in financial crime and compliance management from Utica University in 2017. Additionally, Ms. Bell received an ASCENT Fellowship in Mastering Management from The Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth in 2009.
Ms. Bell is highly qualified in her field, with professional credentials including being a certified fraud examiner (CFE) by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE). She is also certified in and holds advanced expertise in micro-expressions training tool (METT) from the Paul Ekman Group.
Involved in professional memberships, Ms. Bell has held leadership positions within the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, including global chair emeritus of the board of regents for ACFE Board of Regents where she and the board oversaw the execution of the professional ethics and standards. She has remained a member of the ACFE for over 20 years. She is also a member of the High Technology Crime Investigation Association (HTCIA), InfraGard, Women in Defense, and the American Society of Criminology. Born with an innate curiosity for uncovering fraud, Ms. Bell's journey into forensic accounting was influenced by her undergraduate coursework, which initially led many peers to Wall Street. Instead, she chose to delve into forensic accounting to address financial statement fraud while attending college, leading to her development and evolution of a SaaS tool, Šóta Signal Analytics. Among her most notable accomplishments was designing and architecting her software, which earned her recognition as Entrepreneur of the Year by Pasco EDC in 2023 and a spot among the Top 10 Software by Tampa Bay Business Journal® that same year. Looking ahead, Ms. Bell hopes that her innovative software will become more widely adopted, helping countries improve their economies through better identification and understanding of accounting fraud risks.
